Today we share the passing of our beloved colleague and former Assistant Head of School Karin Clough. Karin was a remarkable person, and an unparalleled educator, mom, partner, daughter, teammate, colleague, and friend, who generously shared a sixteen year chapter of her life and family with our Proctor community. When Karin arrived at Proctor in 2008 with her three young children (Luke ‘18, Finn ‘18, and Sofia) and husband, Kurt, she immediately made an impact on the lives of Proctor students and colleagues. She asked questions that encouraged us to think differently, to trust in our abilities, and to try things we never thought we were capable of doing. She showed up. Always. For games and races and performances and art shows, for students and colleagues in need, for her own family, for parents during difficult conversations and in moments of joy. She taught us what it means to be present for one another and for a school community, and she showed us how to be truly interested in the lives of others.  Read more about Karin’s impact on Proctor on The Buzz. Retired Faculty Lynn & James Cox just spent a month out in Colorado and got some quality time with alums Scott Messersmith '92 and Will Trask '10.

Scott and Will met when Will's Mountain Classroom Group stayed with Scott in Colorado, and bonded over their shared love of music!

FUN FACT - James Cox started his time at Proctor as a Mountain Classroom instructor.

If you have any fun get togethers this summer with other Proctor Alums - make sure to share with me! 💚

This weekend at Reunion, we were proud to present the Proctor Alumni Service Award to the founders of the Teddy Maloney '88 Scholarship — Rhys Brooks '88, Trask Pfeifle '89, and Mark Maloney '90.

What started as a way to honor their friend and brother Teddy, who was lost on 9/11, has grown into something extraordinary. Through the annual Big Dog Classic golf tournament, they've built a scholarship now valued at nearly $600,000 and counting.

And the legacy doesn't stop there. Mark's daughters have taken over running the tournament, keeping their uncle Teddy's memory alive for the next generation. We also got to celebrate with scholarship recipient Cooper Rice '21 - a living reminder of why it all matters. 💚

Evolutions at the Proctor Ski Area: Securing a Base for the Future 04/17/2026

Big news from the Hill! 🎿 Proctor Ski Area has just installed a new Snow Secure system — storing this season's snow for next season. It's an exciting evolution for a place so many of us called home, and one that will make a real difference for future snow sport athletes who train there. Read The Buzz (below) to learn more about this incredible innovation and its environmental impact!
