🎗️ On , we honor survivors, support those still in the fight, and recognize the families, friends, and caregivers who stand beside them every step of the way.

As cancer remains one of the greatest occupational threats in the fire service, the IAFF will never stop pushing for the protections our members deserve.

Please join us in wishing Deputy Fire Chief Albert DelDotto a happy retirement after 40 years of service to the Town of Andover!

Deputy DelDotto was appointed to Andover Fire Rescue on February 18th, 1986. He retires as the Deputy Fire Chief (Shift Commander) of Unit 3. In addition to his duties as Shift Commander, Deputy DelDotto served for a long time as our department’s Training Officer, mentoring and training our newest firefighters. He also served as a Fire Instructor at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. Throughout his career, Deputy DelDotto earned the respect of his firefighters by being one of, if not the, most passionate and knowledgeable firefighters on our department. His command presence and experience led to the safe and successful outcome of whatever incident he commanded.

At his retirement ceremony today, Deputy DelDotto said, “I’m not going anywhere. I’m still a fireman. It’s not just a job. It’s a state of mind.”

That is Deputy DelDotto. His dedication to our department and the training of our firefighters was exemplary. His retirement will be a big loss, but our department is in a better place because of his service.

Enjoy your retirement, Al, you’ve earned it!!

We would like to give a special thanks to Roger and his crew at REHAB FIVE for their assistance during our second alarm fire last night on South Main Street.

Firefighting is a physically demanding job, made even more demanding by hot and humid conditions. Rehab Five took great care of our firefighters, providing cold water, Gatorade, and snacks.

Time after time, Rehab Five has shown up for our firefighters when it matters the most, and we are grateful for that.

Thank you, Roger and Rehab Five!!!
