Day 2 of 2 of the Maplewood assembly, created by Minnesota Community Assembly of Hamline University and the Wilder Foundation at the Maplewood Community Center. The highlights from Saturday, April 28 included 1. Eight principles of local government 2. Use of caucusing methods 3. Narrowing in on recommendations residents wish to see 4. Presenting six recommendations to local government officials 5. Receiving certificates and t-shirts for their participation (+ their $300 checks are in the mail)

4th assembly of is kicking off in Maplewood MN today! Maplewood residents who applied and were selected are learning about their local government and building relationships and recommendations for reform. The Amherst H. Wilder Foundation faciliators - Nou Yang, Sally Brown and Chalonne Wilson are leading the Yes, No, IDK (I don't know/ it's complicated) exercise about experiences with government and in their community. MNCA had a wonderful time spreading the word about the upcoming assemblies in Maplewood! We had the opportunity to visit the Maplewood Community Center, The local library, and the Maplewood Mall. We were also lucky enough to visit a couple of local business in the area!

No prior political knowledge or engagement necessary! The assemblies seek participants who may not currently see their voice or concerns reflected in their local government. The assemblies provide the education specific to that resident's local government structure. SO... City of Maplewood residents: you're up. APPLY by April 13th.
