🔥 Hot take:

AI is not going to replace great coaches and advisors.

But…it may expose average ones. 😱

Yes,
AI can generate reports.
AI can summarize results.
AI can identify patterns.
AI can answer questions.

In fact, it’s pretty amazing at all of that.

BUT.

What AI cannot do well is understand the full complexity of a human system.

People are complicated.
They’re dynamic.
They’re influenced by environment, stress, goals, relationships, and timing.

And if that’s not taken into consideration…then how good is the output? 🤔

My prediction: the future belongs to practitioners, advisors, and coaches who can integrate insight, intelligence, context, environment, and action. And integrate it beyond superficially.

Here’s a version of the story:
Three people take the same assessment.
All three have the same type.

Should they be coached the same way? Do they need the same support and resources? Do they respond to leadership demands the same way?

Of course not.

One may be driven by achievement.
One by accuracy.
One by responsibility.

The label isn’t wrong.
It’s just incomplete.

This is one of the biggest limitations in many assessments, frameworks, and development models.

Labels are a great start to helping us understand people.

But they can also prevent us from seeing the full picture.

Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking about leadership and decisions at the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce’s Friday Sunrise. Not only was it exciting to talk about something so important to me - and to leaders and businesses - but it was extra exciting to stay over one hour after the event ended to have extended conversations about what I talked about.

A few things that stuck with people:
• “People problems” do not equal “problem people.”
• Risk lives before decisions are locked in.
• People skills are not soft, they’re critical.
• You must consider the whole system during big changes, not just individuals.

Plus, I got to sit with these lovely ladies, Jenn Thomas and Amy Gale Maloney!

What a fun, engaging group and event, and a wonderful way to start off the weekend!
