If we are lucky enough to grow old
“Twice this week, I have watched an elderly individual, fade into the busy life in which we all live. One man just needed Panadol for his wife but the shop assistant simply said it’s in aisle ‘6’. But he struggled to navigate the supermarket and as I watched him go in the wrong direction, I left all my groceries and took him where he needed to go.”
“Today, I watched an elderly man struggle in the heat, who had obviously had a fall with a huge scrape and blood on his leg. He walked past people in the cafe, while he slowly made his way to his car. Not one person stopped. Or looked. Or acknowledged him. I took him to his car and checked he was ok. He told me he had a fall and wasn’t sure how the air con worked in his car so he just didn’t use it. I sat with him, until his air con kicked in and heard him talk about the old frail body that he is in, that fails him now, every single day.”
“When you see an elderly person walking down the street, searching in the supermarket or struggling to their car, take a minute out of your busy schedule and ask them if they need a hand. Think about your grandparents and your parents and how upset you would be if someone didn’t stop to help them. But more, think of them as you.”
“Once upon a time they were you. They were busy, they had work, they had children, and they were able. Today, they are just in an older body that is not going as fast as it used to and this busy life is confusing. They deserve our utmost respect and consideration. One day it will be you, it will be us. I wish more people cared more about them and acknowledged them for their admirable existence and jeez I hope someday, not that far away, someone does it for me.”

If you’ve walked through downtown Greenville or attended any of its festivals, you’ve likely unknowingly seen the artwork of John Acorn.
The same goes for attending Clemson University or taking a stroll through Anderson’s Main Street.
Today, Alzheimer’s disease is tightening its grip on his mind — and with his days of creating likely behind him, his family is trying to find homes for the larger-than-life pieces stored in his the workshop.

Great invention!
So someone came into work today who's husband has dementia and he had one of these on his coat. I've never seen or heard about them and she was saying how very few people have n i ssked if i could post this pic on here and she agreed so let's raise some awareness.... if you see someone alone and looking lost and they have one of these on show just scan this with ur mobile and it will bring up the details of family so you can get them back home safely. Such a good thing ❤️❤️

Please fill out the survey so you can help the city and county in the decision process. Thanks.
I see a need and would certainly use Local Trails. Anderson is a wonderful place to live, work & play. It is going to continue to grow because we live in a very special spot. People expect social events, parks, speciality shops, restaurants, schools, good roads, health care and trail systems and more. People expect all of these things not just some of them.
I very much realize the need for road improvement for sure. Our major roads are in awful shape and country roads are even worse. I also know the need for belt-lines and connectors past due now and they will be imperative in the future. These projects should have been planned 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 years ago, before all of the growth and sprawl. I would love more trails.
The City of Anderson is seeking community feedback for future trails. 🛤️
We are currently pursuing grant opportunities to fund these trails, and public input will help strengthen our applications.
This type of data will help showcase the current demand and the community’s support and enthusiasm for expanding our recreational amenities in Anderson.
The survey is anonymous and will take about 10 minutes.
