Behind opioid addiction is a person.
- A family. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
- A future. đź§
Stigma keeps people silent.
Silence delays help.

Last night, my daughter and I had the honor of presenting a scholarship in memory of my stepson, Cole Gentry, who we lost to fentanyl in 2022.
Sitting on that stage, watching those students walk across to receive their awards, I couldn’t help but think about how fast time goes. The moments we have with our kids—even the ones we take for granted—don’t last forever.
As parents, we often think, “My kid would never…” But the truth is, no one plans to make a life-altering decision. Sometimes it’s just a moment—a little pressure, curiosity, or the desire to feel better—that can change everything.
That’s why we started the Cole Gentry Memorial Scholarship—to keep his name, his heart, and his love for others alive. And to remind people that there’s still more work to do.
To every parent: take the time. Sit in those uncomfortable chairs. Celebrate your kids. Talk to them. Remind them they are loved and that they matter—far beyond grades, appearances, or expectations.
And to every young person: you are enough. You don’t need a substance or a “quick fix” to be valued. Life will be hard at times—but it’s worth living.
Because one decision, made in a moment, can last a lifetime.

We are pleased to announce that a $2,500 scholarship was awarded to a deserving art student at Wren High School through the Cole Gentry Memorial Scholarship, which is funded by our Annual Charity Golf Tournament. This scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to Cole's memory, honoring his passion for art and his compassion for others, which were hallmark qualities of his exceptional character. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the continuation of this scholarship. Through our efforts, we strive to transform our pain into a catalyst for positive change and hope within our community.
