And that's it! Ready to give out to my D&D players.

Sanding....

Shiny edges come from sanding. I start at 240 grit, and go through 240, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000, and 7000. Finish with a brisk polish with a canvas cloth. All good!

Quick intermission. New business card holder!

Gluing a backing piece on to give the reverse side a finished surface as well. Then it's on to the sanding....

Next step: Smearing leather antiquing paste all over.

Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wipe it off.

Bevelling and lifting done. Starting to paint. I use the same acrylic paint that I do for painting my D&D miniatures.

Red on the eyes and white on the teeth.

Bevelling gives the 3d effect by compressing and darkening one side of the cut.

I also use an exacto to undercut some of the areas to lift them above the surface.

After tracing, I grab the swivel knife to cut the leather. Keeping the proper moisture level / dampness in the leather is critical for being able to get the feathered cuts at the end as well as keep the edges straight and clean.

Chronicling the creation of some more of the dragon cards that I made as gifts to the players in my Dungeons and Dragons game. This is the "Big Bad Evil Guy" of the game, so I figured it would make a good momento.

After stamping the logo and name, I use the laminated pattern on wet leather to trace the line art onto the leather.

Small update that I'm working on some gifts currently. I'll post photos once they have been sent out.

12 hours under the clamps, and the 3D printed stamps do their thing.

And that's when you discover one wasn't straight. Guess I have another practice piece!
