JETI Program - Update

We received notice yesterday from the comptroller that starts the 30 day window. We have posted our public hearing for 6pm on July 7, 2026 at the Anderson-Shiro JH/HS Cafeteria. In order to best prepare for the public hearing and to ensure as many questions get answered as possible at the hearing, you may submit any questions you have here: https://forms.gle/hy8gFZ9k6s5bPvTN6 There is opportunity for public comment at the hearing as well.

Our public hearing is a week prior to the regularly scheduled July board meeting to have time to hear from the community and consider what is shared. Our July board meeting is scheduled for July 14, 2026 at 6:30pm and will be posted in the time required by law closer to that date.

JETI Program - Questions

We are excited to welcome LaTishia Center to our Owl Family as an English Teacher at Anderson-Shiro Jr/Sr High. Mrs.Center is excited to be joining us this year. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University, and she's passionate about helping students grow both academically and personally.

Her husband and she have been blessed with four children and two grandchildren, who bring so much joy to their lives. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys baking, reading, and spending quality time with family. Some of her favorite books include The Night Circus, A Gentleman in Moscow, A Christmas Carol, The Book Thief, and Pride and Prejudice. She also enjoys the works of authors such as Mark Twain, Henrik Ibsen, George Orwell, and C.S. Lewis. She is looking forward to getting to know her students and contributing to the Anderson-Shiro community.

There has been a lot of discussion and speculation recently regarding SpaceX and the impact on our community. We understand that community members have questions and want accurate information.

To help provide clarity, we have created this brief video explaining what has happened between ASCISD and SpaceX to date as well as what the JETI Program is, how it works, and where we are at in the process. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to watch and learn more about the facts surrounding the program.

🎓 Graduation Day is here! 🎓

Join us tonight as we celebrate the Class of 2026 at Fighting Owl Football Stadium! Graduation will begin at 8:00 PM. Stadium gates will open at 6:45 PM.

📍 Parking will be available in the Jr./Sr. High parking lots. Overflow parking will be located at the Elementary campus, with shuttle buses beginning at 6:00 PM to transport guests to the stadium.

🚫 Due to recent weather conditions and soft ground, we ask that guests please avoid parking on the grass to help prevent vehicles from getting stuck and to protect campus grounds.

☔ In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the gymnasium.

We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with our graduates, families, and community tonight!

Reminder: Tomorrow, May 21, 2026, is the last day of the school year!
