We are so grateful to have attended and participated in the Alaska MMIP Justice Summit last week. We came together with community members, leaders, organizations to listen, learn, and recognize the urgent need to address the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People in Alaska. This two-day event was empowering as so many came together to discuss the actions and strategies needed for the safety and justice for the Indigenous communities. This summit was much needed as important conversation happened during each breakout room and powerful stories were shared by each keynote speaker. Thank you MMIWG2 Alaska Working Group for putting together this amazing summit and for allowing us the opportunity to participate.

Victims for Justice is looking for passionate Alaskans to join our Board of Directors! If you care about supporting survivors of violent crime and want to help shape programs, events, and advocacy efforts across the state, we’d love to connect. The board meets every other month (with short committee check-ins in between), and hybrid options make participation easy. We’re especially hoping to add members with rural Alaska experience, accounting or legal backgrounds, or familiarity with healthcare systems — but most importantly, we’re looking for people who care about our mission and want to be involved. If that sounds like you, reach out and let’s talk.
