Fire weather concerns remain with us through the weekend, as hot and dry conditions are with many areas. While today will bring some thunderstorm activity, Saturday looks to be a fairly active day for storms. We're also watching temperatures in the Interior where a heat advisory is in effect, as temperatures could top out at or above 85 degrees.

Hopefully you've been enjoying the beautiful weather, we've got more warmth heading our way across Alaska. The final few days of spring will see highs warming into the 70s and 80s in the warmest spots, with thunderstorm activity increasing into the weekend. The first day of Astronomical Summer begins on Sunday, with warmth to continue into next week.

06/17/2026

While warmer weather continues to spread across the state, daily thunderstorm activity will still remain for areas of Southcentral and through Western Alaska and the Interior. Expect activity to remain isolated to scattered in nature as we close out the week. 80s will be possible in the Interior by weeks end.

06/16/2026

For the first time since October of 2025, Anchorage is dealing with an above average month. This warmth will continue to build into the state with more 70s an 80s by weeks end. Juneteenth celebrations should be fairly dry, although some thunderstorm activity will be likely across parts of Southcentral and north into the Interior. Southeast will trend drier and sunnier beyond Wednesday.
