The Alaska Friendship Circle, a recipient of thread’s Innovation Grant, is celebrating the opening of its new Play Center on Sunday, June 7. Families are invited to join the festivities, explore the new space, and support this exciting community resource. 💗

The play center was created to welcome children of all developmental abilities, including children with physical, sensory, cognitive, or social challenges. The space is designed to encourage friendship, movement, imagination, and community connection in a safe and supportive environment. 🤗

✨ Did You Know?

The year 2000 marked the start of something special - The Children’s Place opened its doors. 🎉

Created as a hub for collaboration and support, The Children’s Place partnered with the Gambell Job Center to offer short-term, drop-in child care for families using job center services. That meant parents could focus on employment resources, training, and job searches while their children were cared for in a safe, supportive space. 💛

This milestone came to life through thoughtful planning with the Municipality of Anchorage Child Care Licensing and generous support from the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services Division of Public Assistance.
A great example of what can happen when community partners come together to support families.
