Snapshots from a community partnership in action 💜

AWAIC is incredibly grateful to the team from Convergint who spent their Social Responsibility Day at our shelter making a meaningful difference.

Their team jumped right in to help detail the AWAIC vehicle fleet, install new furniture in shelter spaces, deep clean the shelter kitchen, and organize donations for participants. Because of their hard work, our space feels refreshed, welcoming, and ready to support survivors and families on their path to safety and healing.

Thank you, Convergint for investing your time, energy, and care into our mission. Your partnership helps create a stronger, safer community for everyone.

This Pride Month, AWAIC is honored to uplift q***r survivors and community members 🏳️‍🌈

AWAIC is committed to empowering individuals and addressing oppressive behaviors, including domestic and sexual violence, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism, ageism, xenophobia, and all other forms of oppression. AWAIC recognizes we cannot address the cycle of abuse in our community without addressing these issues as well.

Pride is a celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ authenticity, resilience, and belonging. This month and every month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a community where everyone can live safely, love freely, and be treated with dignity and respect.

If you or anyone you know is feeling unsafe at home or in their relationship, call the AWAIC 24/7 Crisis Line at 907-272-0100.

Big things are coming to AWAIC!

Thanks to an incredibly generous donation from the National Women’s Shelter Network, and transportation support from Tote Maritime Alaska, the interior of the AWAIC Safe Shelter is getting an exciting upgrade.

These improvements will help create an even more welcoming, comfortable, and healing space for survivors and families seeking safety and support.

Be sure to follow along as we share more updates and behind-the-scenes moments from this project! 💜
