Outten Ridin’ Ranch

Next stage will be French drains, landscape matting and winter ag! Johnnie and Cadi have learned to sleep to the sound of machinery.

The “feels like” temps today were 86 degrees and I think it took us all by surprise. Almost every creature on the ranch headed for shade except one of our guests 🐴

ORR Kid’s Camp 2026. This year we accepted 30 kiddos (because I have a hard time saying no when a kiddo wants horse time 😂🙈).

The highlights are many but here are a few unique and fun shout-outs!

*Shout out to the weather for turning perfect! Amazing 🤩

*Families flew in from North Carolina and from Utqiagvik for horse camp.

*We added a saddle cleaning competition that was a huge hit!

*The grand finale at the end of day two featured a skills demonstration this year for each student individually and it was so cool how the parents showed up to watch what their kids had learned …way better than the group races!!

*Added a true obstacle course on foot with wheelbarrows and manure and straw bales (my personal favorite because of how all the kids cheered and cheered for each other).

*Savannah was lead instructor and we had three additional awesome junior instructors and three new-to-us horses joined! It was horse sleepover time!

*We had the most adult helpers we have ever had and we couldn’t have done it without them!

And of course our annual tie dye, ponies at liberty, goats, manure management, piñatas, tons of saddle time learning the fundamentals, horse tack bingo, art and tons of fun and games.

Phew. All that fun is exhausting. Parents, your kids were amazing! Thanks for letting them join us!

Our May Summer Kid Camp is now full. We will update if another camp is scheduled.

Today’s instruction included how to ride the white barrel. I mean pony. 🙃

We have finally secured the dates for our first Summer Camp for Kids! May 28th & 29th. A July camp is also in the works, but not yet finalized. Registration is now open. Let the fun begin!
