The training opportunities listed on this page and our website reflect a sampling of the educational events we offer. We regularly adapt our trainings to meet the needs of the schools we serve. A professional learning event may be as short as a single hour-long workshop, or as long as a ten-day series spread out over the course of the year. Our trainings can be facilitated on site in your communit

Course Instructors: Albert E. Mussad, Ph.D. is a staff consultant at Collaborative for Educational Services in Massachusetts

Course Description: The academy introduces key concepts related to trauma and addresses chronic poverty as a particular form of trauma, including effects on families and children in relation to school and education. This is a life-changing opportunity for participants in the way they understand trauma, poverty, and research-based practices to optimize outcomes for students living in trauma and poverty. The academy will include concrete strategies for educators working with students living in trauma and poverty. Teachers will better understand best practices and strategies related to trauma, poverty, brain-compatible learning, culturally-responsive practice, social-emotional learning, and engaging culturally and linguistically diverse families and communities
