2 years ago I celebrated my 30th birthday with tears and hopelessness. Saying goodbye to a child I’d grown for almost 30 weeks. A future I planned and dreamt. I used to worry that time would erase her. Or erase the love I had, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I think of her so much more as I hold my miracle baby this year. I still hold tears for the child that isn’t in any of our new photos or new memories. As I imagine what life would be like if she was a toddler running around as I settled my 10 week old baby. I have an overwhelming amount of joy this year, even in the sadness that touches my birthday from now on. I know there are so many of us..every year holding a silent moment for our losses. Whether we count the babies we shall meet in heaven one day, or we count our moments with our partners over children we will never have. So this is me kneeling in the cold snow holding onto the child I prayed so hard for. After spending too long criticizing my body in the mirror, and ignoring my husbands sweet comments, and feeding the baby, changing diapers, walking dasher…I put the dress on and I had the photo taken. Because I fought for this life. I fought it with prayer and hard tears that have stained my soul. But I love stained glass, because it’s more unique and beautiful than the glass without the scars of love.

Whenever my clients ask me “ what shoes should we wear?” In Hawaii, I always said none! Barefoot is best..but Alaska? I’m a bit obsessed with Xtra Tufs. They also look cute in every location with any outfit 🤣 if sponsored me I’d be stoked 🤣🙏🤩

When it comes to proposals, us women generally know well before they ask, however our decision comes immediately after the question. For men…their decision comes weeks or months before they take the knee. Mike said that he bought Liane a valentines card for Feb 14th…but he held the card and knew right then that she was meant to hold something far more important. His heart, his ring and his name. So instead of giving her the card, he wrote a letter to his future fiancée and waited. He waited 16 weeks and had 10 different proposal plans, yet in Mike fashion, they all backfired 🤣 Leaving the best route…a beautiful card leading her to a favorite bridge with a man on his knee who has waited 10 years to find the love of his life. Who has prayed and prayed and almost gave up a couple times, but I knew she was out there somewhere. How honored I was to be able to capture one of his joyful moments and decisions. I can only pray for so many more to come ❤️ Congratulations Liane❤️ and congratulations brother🥹 You are no longer the trio with Austin and I…you done went and started making your own family 😭❤️

Even though we moved from Maui…it doesn’t mean it doesn’t still call me back. Alaska has become home for now…but Maui has a strong pull for me even now. With amazing people and friends and I will always love photographing Maui’s waters. We finally made it to Alaska and drove to my first shoot here…looked at the white tipped mountains and breathed the cold air. It felt like home. We made it home. Where I’ll leave new pieces of me all over the same way I did Hawaii.
