***REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE***
Anaheim Police Department traffic investigators are asking for the public’s assistance regarding a fatal hit and run.
On June 5, 2026, a bicyclist was traveling southbound on Bluegrass Street approaching the intersection of Arlington Avenue. As the bicyclist entered the intersection, he was struck by a beige/tan Chrysler PT Cruiser that was traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue.
After the collision, the male driver of the PT Cruiser slowed down, looked back toward the injured bicyclist, and then fled the scene, continuing westbound on Arlington Avenue without stopping to provide information or render aid.
The suspect vehicle is described as a beige or tan Chrysler PT Cruiser with a faded convertible top, no rear window, chrome-and-red European-style taillights, and chrome rims. The vehicle should have collision damage to the driver’s-side front fender.
Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or driver is urged to call Anaheim PD at 714-765-1900.

The best investment we can make is in the next generation! Today, Chief Cid joined our Explorers’ weekly meeting to share lessons learned from a career of service.
The Anaheim Police Explorer Program gives young adults ages 14 to 20 the opportunity to serve their community, build lasting friendships, and gain hands-on exposure to the world of law enforcement. Many Explorers go on to become part-time Police Cadets while attending college, building on the experience and skills they gained through the program.
Interested in joining? Students can email [email protected] to express interest and learn more.
Visit anaheimpd.org/212/Explorers for additional information.
Before help arrives, before lights and sirens, someone answers the call.
If you’re calm under pressure, have strong communication skills, and a customer service background, this is your opportunity to build a meaningful career serving the City of Anaheim!

You may notice an Anaheim Police Department drone in the sky this June! A drone’s real-time aerial view can help officers assess situations faster, improve safety, support faster response times, and ensure the right resources are sent where they’re needed most.
As part of a month-long assessment of the Drones As First Responders program, drones operated by APD Real Time Crime Center officers will launch from Anaheim City Hall East and respond to calls in central Anaheim before patrol officers arrive.
By providing responding personnel with a clearer understanding of what is occurring before they arrive, drones can support more informed decision-making and help determine the appropriate level of response, whether that means additional resources are needed or a situation can be safely resolved with a smaller response.
In some cases, the information gathered may indicate that a situation has already been resolved, allowing officers to remain available for other community needs and helping improve overall response times.
This is one more way we’re exploring technology to enhance public safety and better serve our community.

When we say a suspect has “nothing to hide,” this isn’t exactly what we mean.
Yesterday, officers responded to reports of a resident smashing vehicle windows at an apartment complex in West Anaheim. The suspect fled into his apartment and barricaded himself inside, prompting a response from detectives and our Tactical Response Group.
After several hours of refusing to surrender, tear gas was introduced, which was a powerful motivator.
The suspect eventually exited the apartment and was safely taken into custody.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, he exited wearing absolutely nothing. Why he chose to leave his own apartment without clothes remains unclear, but we’re fairly confident there were other options available.
The suspect was arrested and now faces multiple criminal charges.
