Singer ⁺ Songwriter🎙️♪ ⊹
New Single *Jewel for Two* 💛 McAndress creates music that leaves room to breathe. Melodies that meet you where you are.

Her songs, spacious and intentional, unfold with introspective depth and sincerity. Blending elements of folk, soul, and ambient sound, her work feels grounded and resonant — music that doesn’t rush, where each echoing note is given space to settle, gently drawing the listener inward. Her songs stir reflection and emotional awareness, sharing kinship with Ane Brun’s earthiness, Fiona Apple’s vulne

I recently sat down with Canvas Rebel 💖🎙

In the interview, I talk about how music has always been a family foundation, and the process of reviving my father’s unreleased songs after all this time. How "unlearning" was required to step outside societal expectations, and why I value the kind of honest, human connection that can’t be automated.

It’s a look at my collaborative work with my dad, our influences, and the importance of supporting creators in an ever-changing world.

I've come to understand something about creating.

It isn't just for us. The impulse to make something, to shape sound or words or beauty, comes with a responsibility to share it.

I'm a private person by nature. Sharing feels like standing naked out in the cold, exposed in ways that don't come easily.

But privacy can't be the reason to keep things hidden. If we're given the capacity to create, we're also being asked to let go of it, to offer it outward, to allow for it to reach whoever needs to hear it or experience it.

The vulnerability is real. But so is the responsibility.

I think we all face this at some point, especially those of us wired to create. The choice is to stay small and recluse or to open up and honor the gifts we've been given.

We record Dad's guitars at Black Sheep Recording Studios in New York with Jeffrey Frey, who is a real pleasure to work with.

When I'm back East visiting, I get to be a part of these sessions. It's a gift to watch them work and hear the takes come together in real time.

Jeff has built something very special there, a place where the music gets the time and care that it needs.

We released Jewel for Two yesterday, and I'm grateful for the people and spaces that made it possible 💛

New music video is up on YouTube! 💛

It was filmed here in the woods at our new home, so in a way, this song is also an introduction to the new life we're building.

Dad wrote Jewel for Two many years ago, but we shaped it together into what it is now. Interestingly, it's the first time I've sung about love. Really sung about it. And maybe that's what we all need more of -- in a world that feels pretty heavy right now.

Working with Dad has become such a beautiful way for us to stay connected, even though we work mostly at a distance.

It keeps us moving forward together, creating something meaningful through partnership.

And the times I do get to visit and be present at his recording sessions, it's truly a gift.

These two.

Before I was born, they were already on the road. Touring musicians, city to city, following their dream wherever it led.

Music brought them together. It became the foundation for everything. Our family, our values, the life they built for us.

I grew up watching them create and perform, put themselves out there for the world to see.

It takes a special kind of person to do what they did, and it's shaped me in ways I'm still discovering.

This is where it all began.

Cheers to them, and to following your heart 🥂✨

Folk music has always been home for me.

I was born into it. My parents are professional musicians, so folk wasn't something I needed to discover or chose as a genre. It was already there, familiar and comforting, woven into the fabric of my being from the beginning.

For me, folk is heartfelt and honest. It's wholesome, which is something I surely fought against in my youth, but have come to accept it's just who I am. There's a nurturing quality to it that feels good for the soul, something unguarded and real.

Folk is music that invites you in rather than performing at you. It asks for your attention gently instead of demanding it, which also speaks to the way of life I choose to live.

Folk is a river that's been flowing long before I arrived, and will keep flowing long after.

I'm just grateful to wade in it for a while.
