An opossum's tail curves because it is prehensile, meaning it is specially adapted to grasp and wrap around objects like an extra hand. They curve their tails to grip tree branches for balance, to curl up for self-comfort, and to scoop up and bundle leaves and twigs for building nests.

Home Sweet Home 31 Opossums and 8 Skunks were released!!!

Today CJ & I got to stay and watch as the babies we raised explored the great outdoors!

It's our reward for jobs well done!

I wish my eyes were cameras. The positions I find Opossums in! They are so good at getting comfy!

Went to a "personal event" and four of us from the Wildlife Foster Program were there. Thats because more than volunteers, we are family!!!

The long strands of hair on a raccoon's toes are sensory hairs called vibrissae, similar to the whiskers on a cat's face. They are specialized touch receptors that allow raccoons to identify objects and navigate in the dark without having to look at them.

I needed two days off. Everything is running as normal because we are an all volunteer organization! Round of applause for everyone at Wildlife Foster Program and a giant heap of gratitude!
