You ever see a German Shepherd forget all their problems in 0.2 seconds? Just hand them their favorite ball!
Don’t we all wish it was that easy just give them a ball and the reactivity disappears?
Trust me, there’s still a process behind it to truly address the behavior. It’s not just giving the dog a ball and the reactions are over.
Once those reactions start to fade, I love giving the dogs their ball to entertain themselves as we pass by their triggers it keeps their mind busy and helps them associate those moments with something positive.

STOP taking your dog to the dog park if they don't have
solid training.
Dog parks (aka disease-filled fight clubs) can be hazardous to your dog and their health. The idea sounds great a safe place for dogs to socialize and play but that only works when all the dogs there are well-behaved.
If your dog:
•Pulls on the leash
•Gets overly excited when they see other dogs
•Doesn't have a reliable recall..the dog park is the last place they should be.
When a dog has no sense of boundaries, giving them free rein at a dog park is asking for trouble.
There are plenty of safer ways to socialize your dog:
Pack walks, structured play, or taking them into dog-friendly stores to practice training in the real world.
Switch it up and keep your sessions short and fun!
You don’t need to spend an hour going over
everything they know.
Here’s my go-to strategy:
• Focus on 3 commands
• Keep sessions to about 10 minutes
This way, your dog gets plenty of reps, stays engaged, and-most importantly-you both have fun together!

Every dog in this class started somewhere.
Some were reactive. Some couldn't focus. Some didn't know a single command.
At Paws Up Dog Training, we start every dog with private lessons first, so we can coach you one-on-one, build obedience the right way, and assess your dog's unwanted behaviors, reactivity, and overall training needs.
After that, we transition dogs into group class where they learn to stay calm, follow commands, and coexist around 20+ dogs in a structured environment.
This is what progress looks like.

A lot of dogs know how to go into a down…
But how many dogs can hold a down?
A properly conditioned down teaches dogs to remain calm, patient, and accountable, even when their handler walks away or when distractions are present.
This is how obedience becomes functional in real life, not just during training sessions.
In our private lessons, we focus on building a solid foundation of obedience and clear communication so these behaviors can translate into everyday situations like this one.

If your dog “can’t” do something… it might just be your approach.
Not every dog learns the same.
This Frenchie couldn’t get into a “down” at first. Food luring on the place cot didn’t work.
So we switched it up and it started clicking.
In a few days, she’ll have it on command.
Don’t just repeat what isn’t working.

Meet Kobe! He just started his obedience training with us today. He is a 1 year old golden doodle who is here to fix his leash pulling, jumping and we are going to set him up with a solid foundation of obedience and manners to ensure he’s a well mannered member of his family. Through theses lessons our trainers get you hands on with your dogs to ensure you know how to handle and work with your dog. Once completing the first 5 weeks. Then you have 5 weeks worth of group class to come and practice what you were taught in a group setting. During the 5 weeks of class you put your dogs obedience to the test. During group classes we go over all the obedience your dog knows in a controlled environment with dogs and other owners.

Congrats to our most recent graduate Blue! Way to go. Blue worked with his when he was 10 weeks old. And came back months later to do formal training with us. His owner was struggling with a silly playful puppy dealing with leash pulling and leash reactivity. He completed our all exclusive private package. That consist of 8 one hour private lesson 1x a week. (This package does not give you group classes)
Way to go blue to out and show the world what a Paws Up Dog is all about.
