HCSSiM

As you may know, Hampshire College recently announced its permanent closure in December 2026. HCSSiM is a legally separate entity and will continue operating after the College's closure. HCSSiM 2026 will take place on Hampshire's campus as-planned. While we will miss our home for over 51 years, we look forward to continuing a small part of Hampshire's academic legacy at a new campus in 2027. More information will be shared in late 2026. Because we have way too many strong applications to the 2026 Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics:
We will not accept new applications after April 17, 2026 11:59pm EST.

Work on the 2026 HCSSiM Interesting Test must be submitted by April 25, 2026 11:59pm EST.

The 2026 Interesting Test has now been sent to all applicants. Please check your "spam" folder as it may have ended up there.

New applicants will receive it in their application confirmation email after submitting—this email thanks you for applying and includes the Interesting Test. This too could have ended up in your "spam" folder.

Applications for the 54th session of HCSSiM are now open!

The 54th session of the Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics will happen June 28 - August 8, 2026 in Amherst, Massachusetts. We will start taking applications early to mid January.

We will begin accepting applications on January 17, 2026. Additional details, including dates for our 54th session, will be available mid to late December.

Important update from HCSSiM

April 21, 2025 is the final day for new applications.
April 25, 2025 is now the deadline for submitting work on the 2025 HCSSiM Interesting Test.

The 53rd session of HCSSiM will take place in Amherst, MA June 29th - August 9th 2025. We will start taking applications January 17, 2025.

We will start taking applications for Summer 2025 mid January. Please check out our website at hcssim.org, information about our 53rd session will be available mid December.

HCSSiM has completed it first week. Travel was a bit challenging due to storms but everyone arrived safely on opening day. We will be posting pictures of our first week soon. Stay tuned.

Due to the increase in our number of applications we will no longer be accepting applications after April 17th for this summer, and April 25th will be the deadline for returning the 2024 Interesting Test.
