It's been a while since I have posted anything here, but here is an opportunity to come listen to some nourishing music along with a restorative yoga flow!

With the coming of Spring and the movement of this Lunar Blood Moon Eclipse, Dancestors is moving into a new era. We have been consistently holding this space of ritual, connection, expression, and growth for nearly 3 and a half years. In this time we have come together in a network of loving and intentional movers who feel and care deeply about the earth, each other, as well as our local and global culture now and throughout time. For Kaitlyn, James, and I (Nash), this has been a place of deep learning in the art of how to hold space and offer our gifts to the world, while touching into our ancestral wisdoms. We are so so so incredibly grateful to each of you who has made the pilgrimage out to Dancestors over the years, and pray that you have received something you needed there, whether it be solace, joy, space to grieve, touch, affection, insight, beauty or some further balm, mysterious and unnamed. This has always felt like far more than just an ecstatic dance, despite the name we have given it.

From this recognition that we have been changed irrevocably, and knowing that we have changed others, our paths seem to be moving in a new direction. With our progression, Dancestors must also morph and shift. Our work with our music, cultures, art, ancestral wisdom, portals of life, mysticism, and spirituality has only continued to broaden and deepen both together and individually. There is a mystery and cultivation to the process of metamorphosis, as our intentions clarify and purify with the intertwining flow of our purposes. We are still in the question of what our dance will become... Perhaps a quarterly ritual? Perhaps a retreat? Perhaps a mini- festival? Perhaps aspects of each and yet something fresh? As we feel into this question, we would love to hear from you, we will have a feedback space at the dance to vision into our new era.

Dancestors is an ode to our Ancestors, our relatives, who share this world with us. We honor each other, where we have come from, where we are now, what lies ahead as we shake off the icicles and dreams of winter, stretching into a new awareness and livelihood. The journey is brought to you by the cohort of visionary artists Nash Atkins, Kaitlyn Cronin, and James Bird.

Sacred Roots Healing

Hello my dear friends, I hope you're finding yourself well and nourished in this cold and dark season. I have been delving into a space of hibernation rest dreaming and visioning and cultivation for the year to come. As I have been in this space along with Kaitlyn and James, it feels right to take this month of January as a pause in the yearly motion of events and performances. With that being said, it feels natural to take a brief respite from dancestors. Our crops sometimes must lay fallow to produce the richest harvests, and so too must we spend time tending the foundations of the self and soul. I think that for all of us, we are needing a bit of reevaluation with the trajectory of our dance and how it can best serve each of us and the community. I look forward to sharing in the near future what the next incarnation will bring.
