On Wednesday, June 17 at 7pm, we are thrilled to welcome homegrown talent Elijah Stevens to the Amherst Cinema stage following a screening of his new film, TIME AND WATER: https://amherstcinema.org/films-and-events/time-and-water

From director Sara Dosa (FIRE OF LOVE), TIME AND WATER captures Icelandic poet and author Andri Snær Magnason chasing something elusive. As the glacial ice of his homeland melts, he constructs a time capsule to hold onto this moment and send it to the future, before everything he loves slips away.

Producer Elijah Stevens was raised in Leverett and is an alum of the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District. Grab your tickets to this special screening now at our website.

Playing June 24 & 28 in a new 4K restoration! Groundbreaking when it was made and still fiercely innovative today, BY HOOK OR BY CROOK is a trans and butch buddy film that chronicles three weeks in the life of Shy, a handsome, gender-bending, small town dreamer with a nagging messiah complex: https://amherstcinema.org/films-and-events/by-hook-or-by-crook

Emotionally defeated after the death of his father, Shy heads to the big city to sink himself into a "life of crime." He is quickly distracted by Valentine, a deliriously expressive, wise-acre adoptee on a misguided search for her birth mother. The two freaky grifters join forces and learn the true meaning of "poise under pressure" in this visually stunning and wonderfully acted, anti-authoritarian tale of friendship, trust and redemption.
