20 years ago today my then business partner, Ariana, and I opened this lovely little shop. And though at the time I imagined it would mean stepping back from my client-centered work, the shop has in fact only broadened my client base, my ability to meet and connect with people, my opportunities for growing and teaching, for which I am deeply grateful. So- today marks the start of my 20th year as a shopkeeper- and my 20th Christmas season. I am immensely proud of the work we have done over the years to bring ethically sourced housewares to people’s attention- and given the ups and downs in the world in those years I am enormously proud to still be standing and to still have ideas for the next steps! Next year we will have a proper 20th Anniversary PARTY. For now- a quiet noting of this day. ♥️

Happy November! For many this is the start of the holiday season. Halloween is officially over, the days are getting shorter and colder, and we hunker down and DECORATE. I am part of this group— I started my day making a thick, rich, celeriac soup and testing twinkle lights. AND I am aware today that as the government shutdown continues, November 1 marks the expiration of SNAP benefits for nearly 42 million Americans. SNAP— Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program— is the government food safety net that at least 1 in every 8 of us in this country rely on to put food on our tables. I am not an expert in food security— but I am enough of a shelter expert to know that the one thing human beings need more than shelter is food. Locally, as our national public servants sort out their priorities, community members are stepping forward to make sure that people do not go hungry during this crisis— raising money to cover the gap. We ask that you join us in committing to support our neighbors and each other through this moment. Each week that this crisis continues marymoore DESIGN will be donating 100% of our shop Saturday profits to the Community Fund (formerly Atlas Farm Store in South Deerfield, MA) and we hope you will, too. TAG SALE SATURDAY at the shop! 9-1. 5 families and the shop involved in this one- definitely our biggest tag sale ever!!!!

TAG SALE! Saturday, July 12 from 9-1 on the lawn next to the shop! Come by and find some deals! Save things from the landfill! Reuse! We have 2 full sets of China, brass candlesticks, lots of linens, curtain panels, bowls, planters, vases, ceramics, wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, rugs, lamps…. You name it!

I have been traveling for work a lot lately. Getting to visit projects in process is a special treat in this case- because they are not happening close by where I can pop in every day or two and see how things are coming together. Today I am getting to install furniture in this lovely room- created by adding this wall of glass to divide a really big space into a dining room and office. I love my work!
