Support art, healing and community in Western Mass

01/02/2024

It's crucial for organizations dedicated to supporting people to thrive to engage community members in decision-making. Doing so leads to informed choices and tailored solutions that are more likely to support citizens' aspirations and contributions. Genuine focus on engagement can build trust, shift conflict, and foster co-ownership and buy-in. Engaging with communities empowers individuals, enhances social capital, and promotes sustainable development. It can keep organizations accountable, improve cultural relevance, and ultimately produce better outcomes and more substantial impact. Engaged communities are often more resilient in facing challenges. Overall, community engagement benefits people in communities and organizations by creating a transparent, inclusive, and collaborative approach to decision-making and problem-solving.

Springfield College's AmeriCorps program trains undergraduates to mentor K-12 students across the Springfield Public Schools - Massachusetts. Serving as an external evaluator since 2018, Broadsight supports program staff to understand how mentorship improves attendance rates for students in the district. Our work amplifies how important it is for kids and youth to have caring peers available to guide them as they navigate their school days.

For many of our clients, developing an evaluation mindset takes them out of their comfort zone. We know what that's like! We've spent the last year building out our social media and marketing strategies and it's been a push to think in new ways about what we deliver and why. Here's to stepping out of comfort zones, taking risks, and lifelong learning!

It is a 16' x 10' indoor mural for the Western MA Food Bank.  The wall is in the room they use for community meetings and nutrition and cooking classes. In the back corner of the room, there is a large wall space where they envision a mural that represents what the Food Bank does and stands for.  The mural will enliven the room and provide a backdrop for group photos.

They are offering $1500, paint and all supplies to be provided by the artist.

Anyone interested can send a short bio and 3 - 5 samples of their work to [email protected]
