Thinking about using a pole building for more than agricultural purposes?

Before you get too deep in the planning, we encourage you to contact your local officials for permit requirements. The cities and counties in the Des Moines metro area have been enforcing full building code design on these pole buildings not used for agricultural purposes. Most pole buildings, originally designed for agriculture use, fall very short of the structural capacity required by code.

Dallas and Polk counties require a foundation design at a minimum, while residential and commercial buildings may need a full structural design for gravity, wind, and snow. After discussing permit requirements with your local officials, contact Tometich Engineering.

Tometich Engineering has the experience and expertise to help design your building to code.
