June 12 is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the World Day of Sanctification for Priests.
Today, Pope Leo addresses all priests:
"The Heart of Christ, pierced for love, is the living and life-giving flesh that embraces each of us and conforms us to the image of the Good Shepherd....
Today, then, I invite you to renew before the Heart of Christ the “yes” that you said to God and to his holy People on the day of your Ordination. Let yourselves be shaped by grace and guard the fire of the Spirit received on that day, so that, in union with him, you may be a sacrament of Jesus’ love in the world. Do not be daunted by your personal frailty: the Lord does not look for perfect priests, but for humble hearts that are open to conversion and prepared to love others as he himself loved us."
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Deacon Griffen Schlaepfer first felt a ‘small voice’ inviting him to think about the priesthood when he was a junior in high school. Following graduation, he went to Penn State University, and it was during his freshman year that he began to further discern the priesthood. After much prayer and encouragement from his friends, Griffen reached out to the Vocation Office and applied to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Deacon Griffen will be ordained a priest for the Catholic Church of Philadelphia tomorrow, May 16th. His advice to those who are discerning is to be open to the many ways that God speaks to us. Please pray for Deacon Griffen and his fellow deacons who will be ordained priests on Saturday to serve in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
