Refugee Language Project
Language is a doorway. These past few years have been wild! Much of our approach has been unorthodox. That's the thread that connects all we've done.
We've worked to address a complex situation in what we believe has been a consistently godly, compassionate, and strategic way. We've been quick to try new initiatives, and equally quick to discard them when they haven't worked. Yet through it all, we've always been willing to take the detour into homes and give our time to friends. This is what Jesus did. He invested his time in a few, and them s

We met Lesvia and Gustavo two years ago, and they have been consistent faces in our building multiple times per week. They have been in English class, attended all the field trips, participated in summer camp and tutoring, shown up for exercise class, studied in citizenship and art classes, and are vibrant members of our community. They spent their time with us, not just as students or learners, but as givers - sharing food, lending vocal support for our organization with grantors, cleaning the classroom tables, checking in on other people who had stopped coming to class, and introducing us to their son and family. We said farewell last week, and are reminded of the lasting impact of this family. We opened our doors of welcome, and they in turn poured out their own generous gifts into our community. This is goodbye...but it's not the end. Lesvia and Gustavo, you take a big piece of our hearts back to Venezuela with you. Read about our incredible friends and the impact of their time with RLP in our May e-newsletter at the link in bio.

🎉 End of semester!! 🎉 Congratulations to all of our students, volunteers, and teachers for making it to the end of May! We had a week full of parties honoring the hard work of our students. Thanks to everyone who help make it possible for us to use language as a doorway.
An impromptu lesson in how to make arepas happened when one of our students brought all of the supplies and cooked after class on Tuesday. Too many cooks in the kitchen? No such thing around here.

📣 Volunteer Opportunity! Summer English camp is happening again in 2026 and we are getting ready for another fun week with our students. We are providing childcare again, and need around 10 volunteers to help run games and activities for K-5 kiddos, or to take care of our babies and toddlers. If you can help out from June 15-18 from 10:30-12:30, we would love to have you! Shoot an email to [email protected] and let us know you're interested.
