Community parents . No school tomorrow. Stay safe .
Good Evening, Wildcat Parents!
Out of an abundance of caution for tomorrow’s weather event, Xcel Energy will implement Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and the event itself may cause other power outages in the area. There is a strong possibility that we will lose electricity on some, if not all, of our campuses tomorrow, and in the event that we lose power, it will not be a quick turnaround.
If we do lose power tomorrow, we will lose instructional time, and it could prevent our cafeteria staff from preparing meals.
That being said, all classes for River Road ISD will be cancelled tomorrow, February 17, 2026.
Stay Home and Stay Safe, Wildcats!

For your information community .
Xcel Energy says they are preparing for strong winds in Texas and New Mexico on Feb. 17, which may cause power outages and increase wildfire risk. Xcel is looking at possibly conducting a Public Safety Power Shutoff to reduce risk!
If Xcel performs these actions it’s to help prevent wildfires, be prepared for these possible shut offs as far as food in the fridge and other items in the house.

Mission 2540 has always been a great help in our community. Thank you all for everything you do for us .
At 4:25 p.m., a small but steadily growing group of kids is waiting for Brooks Boyett as he hops out of his truck. As Boyett heads into a community center room at the North Grand Villas Apartments, he asks several kids ‘Is your dad still working?’ as many of their parents were informed a few days before that they no longer had their jobs at Tyson Foods.
Boyett is the founder of Mission 2540, an apartment ministry that serves families in nine low-income multi-housing units in Amarillo and a handful more in Lubbock. The ministry provides after-school activities and care for kids, as well as assistance for their parents with rent, food or other needs.
After noting which families had been affected by the layoffs, Boyett tore open a few packages of air-dry clay for the kids to sculpt and continued talking to them about how their day at school went and what their siblings were up to.
As the kids played with their clay and talked about their day, Boyett spoke with a small group of adults about the needs of the families in the apartments. After a few brief conversations, he shouted for the kids to assemble for a game of Simon Says.
Mission 2540 is named for the bible verse Matthew 25:40, which says, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me,’” in the New International Version translation.
