Hi all!

For those who did not watch my Facebook Live today. That one was likely my last Live here with KAMR. I will be moving on to work at the Amarillo National Weather Service in the coming weeks, and since there's severe weather in the viewing area tomorrow, I might not get to do another Live again. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here as a meteorologist and I want to thank everyone again for supporting me along the way. In my place, you can check out the wonderful Forecaster Mari Ferrel and her weather/reporting updates. She will be your new Weekend Forecaster, and I'm happy to say that you'll be in capable hands for weekly weather updates!

For those still following me, I will now use this page to share my other weather related content from the NWS. Though I won't be doing weekly Facebook Lives anymore, (for now...), I still plan to keep you all updated with my future weather endeavors.

Thank you!

Good morning, everyone!

It will be another cold day for us in Amarillo today. Winds will be moderate from the north, around 16 mph. The high for today will be around 43 degrees. We also expect other temperatures in the area to be in the 40’s and 50’s range.

Forecast snow totals for this afternoon through early Saturday morning stand at generally less than an inch for the western Panhandles, with the exception of Deaf Smith County, which is expected to receive around 1 to 3 inches of snowfall.

Temperatures will steadily rise today, especially in the north where they can see the 50’s. Overnight, a rain/snow mix is possible again in the central and southern Texas panhandle. Tomorrow, we are mostly seeing rain chances. By Sunday, we’ll be seeing 50’s return to the rest of the area along with a few windy days for next week as well. Temperatures are back in the 60’s Monday and Tuesday, but another cold front will have the 40’s return to the panhandles on Wednesday.

Stay tuned for the Facebook live today after 8AM!

Good morning, everyone!

It will be a cold day for us in Amarillo today. Winds will be strong from the north, around 29 mph. The high for today will be around 40 degrees. We also expect other temperatures in the area to be in the 40’s range. The next three days will be loaded with high winds, cold temperature, and the potential for a wintry mix.

First for this morning, be careful if driving in the eastern combined Panhandles as some dense fog may reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less. Our upcoming system will bring rain and snow that will favor the southwestern viewing area, including our southeastern New Mexico counties. As of now, the snow totals are around 1 to 2 inches for the southwest starting tonight into tomorrow morning. Will have to watch trends closely as the system moves into the region later today. Also, gusty winds out of the north are forecasted for the Southern Plains behind the cold front for today. The northwest is most favored for wind gusts in the 45 to 55 mph range. However, a 55 mph gust can’t be ruled out anywhere on the Caprock.

By Sunday, we’ll be seeing 50’s return to the area along with a few windy days for next week as well.

Stay tuned for the 8AM Facebook live today!

Good morning, everyone!

It will be a warm day for us in Amarillo today. Winds will be moderate from the west-southwest, around 17 mph. The high for today will be around 83 degrees. We also expect other temperatures in the area to be in the 80’s range. Warmer temperatures are here for the rest of this week. We’ll be welcoming the 80’s again this weekend, but a cold front will move in next Monday to drop our temps back to the 60’s for next week. Windy conditions are also likely on Sunday. Sustained winds will be from 20-35 mph, and wind gust could be up to 55-60 mph. Blowing dust and fire danger are concerns for that day. Light showers are also possible on Monday and Tuesday, though the chances for rain at this point are on the lower end for Amarillo. (20%) Stay tune for this morning's Facebook live after 8AM!
