Not gonna lie, this is pretty cool. They have passports and you get stamps for each state or territory you visit. Some phoned it in like OK, AK, HI but others have cool experiences and some great swag. Plus the Thunderbirds did an airshow while we were there. Be sure to watch the people when that last jet goes over 😁.
It is extra hot, and thankfully they are taking it seriously. Free water stations everywhere. Air conditioning in almost every structure. We're getting ready for the big show on the 4th!

The Smithsonian has a great skeleton of a Phytosaur. You can find the teeth of these guys in Palo Duro Canyon State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife easily in several places. I hope you have an awesome 250th 4th of July!

NW Texas Panhandle

This section takes us along a narrow finger on the north side of Burnt Draw with some pretty good exposure. Down below you can see the old cedar grove, the cave, and Greg’s Arrow.

We got to go on a hike with our adult daughter this past week. The hike is one that we first did as a family over 20 years ago. It ended up being one of our favorites; we call it the Sorenson's Peak - Burnt Draw loop. It's not an official trail but full of cool features: bouldering, cliffs, slot canyon, old cedar grove, a good cave with bats, and an Indian pictograph. Soon we'll start taking our grandkids on this hike as they are getting to the age that our kids were when we first hiked it. Full hiking video coming soon.
