Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation, designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as National Police Week.

This week serves as a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication shown by law enforcement officers across our nation every single day. We remember the fallen, pray for their families, and thank those who continue to serve and protect their communities with honor and compassion.

Here are a few pictures of our officers in action, serving with pride, professionalism, and heart. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค

From all of us at ACPD, thank you to every officer, past and present, for your service and sacrifice. Stay safe, and never forget those who gave everything in the line of duty.

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Meet Sgt. Alvarado โ€œSgt. Jโ€

Since beginning her career in 2008, Sgt. J has dedicated her career to serving others and making a positive impact within her community. Law enforcement runs in her blood, but beyond the badge, she is a wife, a mother, and a leader who believes in serving with compassion, strength, faith, and treating every person with dignity and respect.

Sgt. J is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and building strong relationships both within the department and throughout the community she serves. Her commitment to helping others and leading by example continues to inspire those around her every day.

๐Ÿ”น Why I chose Law Enforcement:
โ€œI chose law enforcement because I wanted a career where I could make a real difference in peopleโ€™s lives during both their best and worst moments. What drives me every day is knowing that I get to serve others, protect those who cannot protect themselves, and leaving this profession better than I found it.โ€

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Meet Officer Hernandez!

An Alvin native, Officer Hernandez is proud to serve the community that helped shape her. As the newest officer in our department, she has already demonstrated determination, professionalism, and a strong commitment to serving others. Family is very important to her, and whenever she has free time, she enjoys spending it with those closest to her.

Officer Hernandez is an Alvin College LEA graduate and recently walked the stage at Graduation last week, and earned her associate degree from Alvin College. Balancing work and school at the same time was not easy, but with determination, focus, and hard work, she continued to push herself to achieve her goals. ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ”น Why I chose Law Enforcement:
โ€œI became a police officer because I wanted to help people and make a difference in my community. I wanted a career that had meaning and allowed me to be there for others during difficult times. I enjoy that every day brings new challenges and opportunities to grow stronger as both a person and an officer. I also wanted a career I could be proud of; one that would help me build a better future for myself and my family. Being a police officer is more than just a job to me; itโ€™s something I truly care about.โ€

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Meet Officer Chambers, also known as โ€œGabbyโ€!

Officer Chambers has proudly served in law enforcement for nearly four years and is currently pursuing her bachelorโ€™s degree. Outside of work and school, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her two dogs, and being with her family, who she says are one of the most important parts of her life.

๐Ÿ”น Why I chose Law Enforcement:
โ€œWorking as a jailer inspired me to pursue a career in law enforcement. While working in the housing units, I had the opportunity to speak with many inmates and realized that many simply lacked guidance and positive support. Those experiences motivated me to become a police officer so I could engage more directly with the community and help individuals before they enter the criminal justice system. I believe that by building relationships and providing support early on, I can make a meaningful difference in peopleโ€™s lives.โ€

01/31/2026

Our hearts are with Officer Alexandria Cano Castro, her family, and the entire Corpus Christi Police Department. ๐Ÿ’™ From all of us at The Alvin College Police Department, we are praying hard for healing, strength, and a full recovery. May God place His hands over her and surround her with comfort and peace through every step of this fight. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Thereโ€™s a meaningful update tonight on Corpus Christi Officer Alexandria Cano-Castro โ€” and it brings both relief and reality.

A family member shared that Alexandria, known lovingly as โ€œAlley,โ€ is now in stable condition and has been transported to Houston to begin the next phase of her fight.

Doctors have confirmed she was struck by two gunshots during last Fridayโ€™s ambush, and the road ahead will be long.

She will soon begin physical therapy, working day by day to regain mobility and strength.

This update builds on what Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markle shared earlier โ€” that Alley is doing as well as can be expected after such a traumatic injury, but faces a long recovery.

He urged the community to keep praying, just as her department continues to do.

Alley is a veteran officer who stepped into danger while trying to apprehend a homicide suspect. She remains a fighter โ€” surrounded by family, backed by fellow officers, and held up by prayers across Texas and beyond.

Her family says it best: please continue praying for Alley โ€” who's proving everyday miracles can come true.๐Ÿ’™
