Fun on a Friday…

Onto Day 2 of PMEA.

Here are some shots from yesterday. The Keytar / Modern Band and the MalletCat / Percussion station were a big hit.

Had a very special opportunity this past two weeks to interact with the students in the pit at Altoona Area School District’s performance of The Secret Garden. We did the programming so I’ve been functioning as a technical and training consultant for the two student keyboard players. Then on Tuesday, I was asked to step in as a last minute sub on the horn book for a couple nights due to some scheduling issues… so I got to dust off my sight reading chops and play the horn book on a MainStage rig.

Their conductor, Brett Keith, is a dear friend and an extremely talented musician; it’s always a joy to sit under his baton. But the real pleasure here was seeing the kids improve over the two week period and being able to play a small part in their development.

This is why we at PKS think we are different from most other rental shops… at our core we are an education based company that is focused on developing more people who are comfortable playing complex MainStage books. When that happens… we all win because live music continues to be a part of live musical theatre.

Today is Happy Gotcha Day for PKS. We launched two years ago today. What are we off doing??? Building gear packages so we can advise music educators on appropriate and affordable hardware needed for a successful MainStage show.
