Andi was having such a GREAT time at the Vet’s office this morning posing by their tree, getting lots of treats, & compliments like “Cutest Corgi we’ve ever seen!” It was all fun & games until the vaccination part! He was such a good boy! He weighs 32.2 lbs but said no dieting until AFTER the holidays!!! 😂 🎁🐶❤️

I’ve had many people who want to get a Corgi puppy ask me questions about Andi and Corgis in general. There are a lot of people who want to get a Corgi because they are “cute.” YES - they are cute little potatoes BUT they are not for everyone. AND you should not get one just because they are cute!

• Breeder - If you are dead-set on getting a Corgi, the most important thing is getting one from a responsible preservation breeder. This will help ensure your Corgi will have all the great qualities they were developed for! Start with PWCCA website to find a good breeder.

• Exercise - They are a herding breed which means they need A LOT of exercise. If you’re gone 8 hours of the day a Corgi will not do well. They need a yard or multiple walks a day.

•Mental Stimulation - They are also extremely intelligent and need training at a young age. This means dedicating yourself to an obedience class. Not only is this mentally good for them, but also prevents them from being destructive and unruly.

• Shedding - Also they shed A LOT. Be prepared for lots of grooming to keep that coat under control.

• Barking - Some Corgis bark a decent amount. We have worked with Andi to minimize barking but your Corgi could be a barker! The training can help minimize this.

Overall they are wonderful dogs who are silly and full of personality! Ensuring your home is the right fit for this breed will make for a wonderful experience. If not, there are many other breeds of dogs 🐕!
