At MPOWERME, we focus on the whole child -- including emotional and social development.

One of the most effective ways to support that?

Play.

Through play, children naturally build:
💜 emotional expression
💜 social connection
💜 confidence
💜 resilience

If you’re looking for ways to support these skills at home, this Playbook is a great place to start Genius of Play:

Simple, practical, and grounded in what works—play.

At MPOWERME, we talk a lot about supporting development across domains.

But often, it starts with something simple:

Play.

“Go play” reflects an instinct that supports children in:
✔ exploring
✔ expressing
✔ connecting
✔ regulating
✔ growing

As we head into Mental Health Awareness Month, this is a reminder:

Those instincts to prioritize play are not random...
they’re grounded in how children develop best. Genius of Play

🌍 Innovation starts with participation.

This month’s Innovation Insider Magazine highlights how children are already thinking about and caring for the world around them -- through creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on experiences.

In our featured article, we explore how:
✔️ Executive functioning
✔️ Sensory processing
✔️ Motor skills
✔️ Meaningful engagement

All play a role in helping children move from ideas to action.

As we recognize both Earth Day and Occupational Therapy Awareness Month, this connection is especially important.

When children are supported in how they engage, create, and problem-solve, we expand who gets to participate -- and who gets to innovate.

Happy 💚

At MPowerMe, occupational therapy is about helping children and families thrive in the moments that matter most.

It’s not just about developing skills -- it’s about:
✨ Building confidence
✨ Supporting regulation
✨ Creating joyful, meaningful participation in everyday life

We believe every child deserves to feel successful in play, learning, and daily routines -- and every parent deserves the tools and support to help them get there.

This month, we celebrate the power of occupational therapy and the incredible children and families we have the privilege to work with every day.

Spring offers something children truly need:

More opportunities to move, explore, and regulate through play.

Outdoor play supports development in ways that are hard to replicate indoors:

🌿 Sensory processing (textures, movement, nature-based input)
⚖️ Regulation (movement + environment help organize the nervous system)
🧠 Executive function (planning, problem-solving, flexible thinking)
💬 Social connection (shared play experiences)

For children, especially those with sensory or learning differences,
these experiences are not “extra.”

They are essential.

And the best part?

They don’t have to be complicated.

✔️ Playing in the grass
✔️ Digging in the dirt
✔️ Building, climbing, exploring
✔️ Following their interests outside

These everyday moments are where development happens.

This spring, think less about structured activities…
and more about creating access to meaningful play experiences.

Thank you to Genius of Playfor continuing to share play-based ideas that support all children.

Innovation doesn't begin with invention.
It begins with observation, curiosity, and exploration.

In the March edition of Innovation Insider Magazine, Innovation World, MPOWERME founder Tonina Llull contributed an article titled “Innovation Begins with Noticing.”

From a child development perspective, environments that encourage curiosity, play, and real-world exploration help children develop the foundational skills that later support creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.

These early experiences are especially important for supporting diverse learning styles and helping all children recognize their ability to contribute ideas and solutions.

This issue highlights inspiring stories of young innovators from around the world.

Spring is the perfect reminder of something we see every day in pediatric therapy:

Play is how children build the skills their brains and bodies need to grow.

Through play, children naturally develop coordination, sensory processing, communication, and social interaction skills.

When families intentionally create space for play, indoors or outdoors, they are supporting development across multiple domains at once.

Play strengthens:

• motor development
• sensory integration
• executive functioning
• emotional regulation
• social communication

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

One of the most powerful tools for supporting development across abilities is inclusive play.

At MPOWERME we see daily how play supports skill development across multiple domains — sensory processing, motor planning, communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.

The Let’s Play: A Playbook for Kids of All Abilities, developed through the Genius of Play initiative, provides families with adaptable activities designed to help every child participate in meaningful play.

Play experiences that are flexible and thoughtfully designed allow children to engage at their own level while continuing to grow their skills.
