Today, we celebrate the dads who navigate Type 1 diabetes themselves and the fathers, stepdads, grandfathers, and father figures who help a loved one manage life with T1D.
You are the early morning blood sugar checks, the late-night alarms, the steady hand during difficult moments, and the reassuring voice that says, “We’ve got this.”
Whether you're living with Type 1 or supporting someone who is, your strength is found in the everyday moments—the sacrifices no one sees, the consistency you provide, and the love that never wavers.
Thank you for leading with courage, patience, and resilience. Thank you for showing up, day after day, through every high, low, and everything in between.
From all of us at Touched by Type 1, Happy Father’s Day. We celebrate you, appreciate you, and are grateful to be part of this incredible community.

Leadership doesn’t always come from a title.
Sometimes, it’s shaped quietly through resilience, adaptability, advocacy, and learning how to keep showing up — even on the hard days.
In this new blog, our Incredible founder Elizabeth Forrest reflects on the leadership lessons that come from living with type 1 diabetes and how those experiences can shape the way we lead, support others, and create impact far beyond ourselves 💪💜

What does it feel like to realize diabetes isn't going to stop you from doing what you love?
For Gary Forbes, that moment came at Staples Center.
Standing on the court, surrounded by the lights and energy of the game, he looked across and saw Kobe Bryant—one of his idols and one of the greatest players to ever play basketball.
In that moment, something clicked.
"I felt normal. Just like everyone else."
Not because diabetes had disappeared, but because it wasn't defining what he could achieve.
Stories like Gary's are a reminder that type 1 diabetes is only one part of who you are—not the thing that determines your future.
🎙️ In Conversations, kids and teens living with type 1 diabetes ask the questions that matter most and hear firsthand from people who have faced challenges, chased big dreams, and found their own path forward.

Yesterday was an important milestone for the T1D community as the FDA granted accelerated approval to Sanofi's Tzield® for children and teens ages 8–17 recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Type 1 Diabetes.
As the first disease-modifying therapy approved for this patient population, this milestone represents continued progress in expanding treatment options and changing what's possible after diagnosis.
While there is still more work to be done, this approval represents meaningful progress for individuals and families affected by T1D.
