Give your child choices when possible. This will help build their confidence and independence.
Giving your child choices will encourage them to be more confident in their skills and abilities.
Progress isn’t always visible. Here’s what progress might look like in children with autism:
- reduced frustration when trying to communicate
- brief moments of shared attention
- fewer/shorter meltdowns, or improved recovery afterwards
- mastering steps of a task in pieces rather than all at once

Have a child who is getting ready to transition into adulthood? Help make the transition easier by practising independence!
Start small with things like brushing teeth. Break down the steps for your child, so the actions are easier to understand! Soon enough, your child will have many independent skills! 😍
