Pressure Regulator Valve Installation – La Cañada Flintridge

Water pressure that is too high can place extra stress on plumbing fixtures, water heaters, appliances, and household water lines over time.

This project included installing a new pressure regulator valve to help maintain proper water pressure throughout the home and support the long-term performance of the plumbing system.

From the Pipe to the Paint 🛠️

Many plumbing projects require opening walls or ceilings to access the piping behind them. Once the plumbing work is complete, the space still needs to be restored.

This short video visualizes the process — from plumbing installation and pipe access to drywall repair, texture matching, and final paint.

At Altadena Handyman LLC, we focus on completing both the plumbing work and the restoration so homeowners can enjoy a finished result.

Why Water Heater Location Matters More Than Most Homeowners Realize 05/16/2026

Why does water heater location matter? From Old Galvanized to Clean, Reliable Plumbing

A shower repair often starts with a simple fixture issue, but in older homes with galvanized piping, there is usually more happening behind the wall.

This project had a classic back-to-back tub and shower setup with aging lines that needed to be addressed on both sides. Working with galvanized piping requires a different approach since the connections are threaded and not flexible like newer systems.

The goal is always the same: clean, reliable plumbing and a finished space that looks like it was never opened.

From the pipe to the paint, everything is handled as one process.

If you're interested, I put together a short write-up explaining how these types of projects are handled: https://www.altadenahandyman.com/post/working-with-galvanized-pipes-in-older-homes-requires-a-different-approach

Underground residential main water service line replacement completed in a Pasadena foothill home.

Aging underground water lines can deteriorate over time due to soil movement and long-term material stress. Because these pipes run below ground from the street to the home, problems often remain hidden until pressure drops or moisture appears at the surface.

This project required full excavation and installation of a new copper service line to restore stable household water pressure and long-term reliability.

In a plumbing system, problems often show up at the weakest points first. Shower valves, supply lines, and internal seals are commonly affected when water pressure stays too high over time.

In foothill homes, elevated municipal pressure can place constant stress on these components, increasing the risk of leaks or premature wear. Addressing pressure conditions at the system level helps protect the plumbing behind the walls — not just the visible fixtures.

Many homeowners don’t realize this until a leak appears.

Water Pressure Regulator Replacement Completed

We recently replaced a failing pressure regulating valve (PRV) for a homeowner in La Cañada and adjusted the system to safe, code-recommended pressure levels. Final water pressure was tested throughout the home to confirm proper operation.

High street pressure is common in many San Gabriel Valley neighborhoods and can shorten the life of plumbing fixtures, appliances, and water heaters if left unregulated.

When wall or ground access is required, we complete all restoration as part of the same project so the home is left fully finished.

Many homeowners don’t realize their water pressure is high until a fixture fails.
