Dear AUSD Families,
All AUSD schools will remain open tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14. However, busing services may be impacted based on guidance from the California Highway Patrol (CHP). According to SDG&E, this wind event is expected to last until Thursday, after which the winds are projected to subside.
We will continue to monitor conditions overnight and reassess if necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Thank you, as always, for your patience and support as we navigate these conditions together.

Former Cub Sighting at Costco! Happy Sunday! ❤️🧸
A Message from AUSD: Dear AUSD Families,
Happy Sunday! We want to let you know that all AUSD schools will be open on Monday, January 13. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions for the week ahead. According to SDG&E, additional Santa Ana winds are expected to move in Monday evening, which could potentially trigger Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) in certain areas.
Please be assured that we are staying in regular communication with SDG&E and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing everyone at school on Monday.

As we continue to navigate potential PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoff) events and ongoing weather challenges, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our law enforcement, fire department, and first responders.
Thank you for all that you do to keep us safe. Your dedication and service do not go unnoticed, and we deeply appreciate you!
Dear AUSD Families,
In today’s briefing with SDG&E, it was shared that the Santa Ana winds are expected to intensify this evening. SDG&E has indicated that power shutoffs may occur if conditions reach critical thresholds. However, at this time, no shut-offs are scheduled for Alpine. Another series of Santa Ana winds are also projected for Monday through Wednesday of next week. We are expecting SDG&E to send out 12-hour notices shortly.
Schools will remain open tomorrow, Friday, January 10, and all bus routes are currently scheduled to operate as usual. However, this may change if the California Highway Patrol issues a high wind advisory that makes travel on Interstate 8 unsafe or if power shutoffs occur.
Staff will be on-site early tomorrow morning to assess conditions and ensure the safety of our campuses. In the event of a school closure, we will notify families as quickly as possible through our usual communication channels, including email, phone calls, and updates on our website and social media platforms.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding as we navigate these challenging conditions.
We want to inform you that we are monitoring a fire in the Crest area closely. At this time, there is no emergency, and the situation is not affecting our school directly. However, as a precautionary measure, bussing to the Crest area will not take place today, and Route 82 has been canceled. We are staying in touch with local authorities and will provide updates if necessary.
Dear Parents,
The fire alarm at CELC was activated at approximately 9:27 today, and all students were safely evacuated. The fire department arrived promptly, and there was no sign of smoke or any safety concerns on campus.
The fire department has confirmed that it was a false alarm. Students have now safely returned to their classrooms, and normal activities have resumed.
Thank you for your understanding and support. As always, the safety of our students remains our top priority.
Dear AUSD Families,
I hope this message finds you well and that you are staying safe in these windy conditions. All AUSD schools will be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 9. However, there remains the potential for power shutoffs over the next few weeks as we continue to experience windy conditions. We will stay in close contact with SDG&E and carefully monitor the weather to keep our students and staff safe. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges. We will continue to provide daily updates each afternoon and share additional information as needed.

Dear AUSD Families,
I hope your child’s first day back after the break has been filled with excitement and learning! I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update regarding the potential SDG&E power outages and their possible impact on our schools.
Our schools will remain open tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8. SDG&E has issued 12-hour notifications for possible power shutoffs today, indicating that power shutoffs may occur if conditions reach critical thresholds.
After attending two SDG&E briefings to review the current weather conditions and speaking directly with the SDG&E meteorologist, we learned that Alpine has no planned shut-offs at this time.
As of now, all bus routes will remain in operation. However, this may change if the CHP issues a high wind advisory that prevents buses from operating safely on Interstate 8. The safety of our students remains our top priority.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary. SDG&E has indicated that this is expected to be a long-duration weather event, possibly extending into next week and potentially the following week, with short breaks between wind events.
I will send an update daily to keep everyone informed and sooner if needed. In the event of a closure, we will notify families as soon as possible through our usual communication channels, including email, phone calls, and updates on our website and social media platforms.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding as we navigate these challenging conditions.
