“Haint Blue”
•For the Gullah, a haint is a wandering spirit, a lost soul that might wish evil on the living. According to the Gullah/Geechee, a blue porch ceiling brought good luck to the home and helped to ward away evil spirits as these lost souls are unable to cross water. A haint blue porch ceiling resembles water and prevents haints from harming the people in the house.

For my entire life I have loved wandering through Southern streets admiring old homes and their architecture. From Charleston SC to Savannah GA. Madison GA and even my little hometown of Milledgeville. One of my all time favorite elements in these antebellum homes are the porches. The peacefulness of a porch swing and a good ole rocking chair.
When we started the design process of our dream home porches were a big dang deal for me. I dreamed of huge porches that could act as an extension of our home. With that I knew I wanted them to have “haint blue” ceilings like I had admired throughout my life.

I can’t wait to fill these beautiful screened back porches with comfy furnishings and look forward to rocking grand babies one day right here in Ball Ground Ga!!!

Super excited to design these awesome townhomes and watch them come to life.
Great opportunity to live walking distance from everything Canton has to offer.

We were ecstatic to receive the 3D renderings and see our vision come to life. Alyson Sailer with Sailer Design is one of my favorite architects. She has designed some of my favorite homes in the Nashville area. We are so blessed to build one of her designs at Hawks Ridge in Ball Ground Ga with t-Olive Properties!

Do you use your dining room or does it mainly sit there for decoration? The answer was simple for me. Never. We had a beautiful dining room in our previous home that simply sat there and was wasted space. While designing our Brownstone I decided early on that I wanted to use this space for a “Speak Easy” style lounge. I wanted a space to socialize, have a cocktail and relax without the distraction of TV.
It all started by adding an electric fireplace. We covered that wall with a black crocodile embossed wall paper. It was the perfect touch of texture and glam! For weeks we searched for the perfect piece of art. had the perfect icon piece LV Marilyn Monroe. She’s covered in Swavorski crystals. That piece set the stage and the mood for the perfect lounge! I had been eying this beautiful Art Deco sofa and burnt Orange Elroy chairs .
