I’ve always loved and this song was part of my childhood. I’ve been learning to appreciate all music and melody through the years as a gift from God and a reminder of His presence with me on the journey. ⁣

From Him, through Him, and to Him are ALL things. Thank you God for the gift of music and how it’s such a gift through the years that provides a backdrop to our memories. Thank you Glen for the gift that you were and are and all the great memories and melody’s you gave us all!

I’ve always been drawn to hymns. To know that relatives as well as so many brothers and sisters in the kingdom through generations have sung the same melody and lyrics is powerful…especially through all of the twists and turns of this life. ⁣
⁣
This is one of my favorites as there is power, healing, and hope in the name of Jesus. Louisa Stead originally penned the lyrics following the drowning of her husband in Long Island Sound in the 1880’s while he was trying to save a young boy. She and her daughter Lily didn’t have enough to make ends meet afterward, but God provided food through friends caring for them. They then moved to South Africa and served on the mission field.⁣
⁣
In Fall of 2018 I was messing with the chord progression that you hear now on the album, and ended up writing an additional verse to close it out…I felt like it needed to be said. “There’s no other name I cherish…there’s no other name I’ll praise…Christ my life in every moment…Christ my joy for all my days.”⁣

Be encouraged today knowing you can place all of your hope and trust in the name of the only one who ever rose again. J E S U S has you!!

There is a haunting longing for redemption in this song. The guitar pattern and chords came first…the first verse was written in the midst of coming to grips with my own personal brokenness. ⁣
⁣
I sat down with and in the Summer of 2020 and they helped in a big way with fleshing out the chorus and landing the plane. ⁣ “We stand in the power of Your presence…we long for Your glorious return. As sure as each new day is dawning..Your Kingdom will come”. By faith we believe and in obedience to what He taught us..we pray “Let Your Kingdom Come Lord”⁣.

We’re all held by God’s love and presence. Neither change…but our circumstances often cause us to feel and believe differently. ⁣ I used to think that the goal was to avoid suffering and to try to control the outcome. But I’ve come to learn that God is with me in it all…the valleys and the mountain tops. They’re both sacred.⁣

Special thanks on this one to who was present with me in a really low place and assisted in helping this song become what it did. Also thank you my youngest son who kept asking when I would record this one. He said..”Dad…people need to know this…especially when they’re going through a hard time”⁣

If you are in the valley right now…know that Jesus said He would be with you ALWAYS. Always is always. Paul also reminds us that NOTHING can separate us from His love. Pay attention to the silence…be still and know His presence. He (LOVE) has you and your story🙏🏻⁣

I’ve always been a huge acoustic instrumental fan and a fan of 70’s music. I still think it was a period of renaissance…and it was my childhood…so many good songs and artists. ⁣
⁣
Joni Mitchell wrote “Both Sides Now” when she was in her early twenties while flying on a plane. I’ve always been moved by the song when I hear Judy Collins sing it…the melody and lyrics are so good. I heard Chet Atkins play a version of it and took some from that and put my own thing on it. This video was shot live at a dear friend’s property in Milton, GA. ⁣

F O R E V E R M O R E //

This song was written in 2018 following our move back to GA from San Francisco. We were blessed to serve for a season with some special brothers and sisters at in downtown San Francisco…but ultimately were called back to GA to focus full time on the ministry.

A dear friend, Danny Dukes had just lost his precious wife Vicki in a tragic car accident…and I was feeling pretty disoriented and tossed about. Sometimes ideas come in the mundane…and while doing laundry the phrase “you cannot disown what you bought with your blood” came to me. I sat with it for the next few months and crafted the verses which all contain aspects of that season and our ultimate hope and promise of home no matter what we go through.
