Better late than never. As a Throwback Thursday treat, we're unveiling pictures from Fourth of July Weekend 2015!

RESULTS: Team Rook Crark placed in the sandcastle contest for the fourth time in team history. We won third place, and the $25 prize went straight into the donation jar for the Huron Humane Society, bringing our grand total to $205 donated to them.

THANK YOU'S: Thank you so much to everyone who came out to build the sculpture, make treats, and help raise money! It truly was a team effort. Thank you to the community who came out to support us and bought treats! Your money is going to a great cause. Thank you to the Huron Humane Society for giving us the opportunity to host this fundraiser! You do incredible work for the Alpena community, and it doesn't go unnoticed.

We're beyond excited to announce our partnership with the Huron Humane Society! The Huron Humane Society is a no-kill shelter for homeless pets in the Alpena community that can always use more help.

At the Alpena News sandcastle contest this 4th of July, Team Rook Crark will be building a sculpture to raise awareness and collecting money for the Humane Society with a bake sale. We will be selling homemade baked goods, homemade dog treats, and ice cold waters for a donation price. All money goes to the Huron Humane Society. We're so excited for this opportunity, and we hope the community comes out to Starlite Beach to support us and the Huron Humane Society.

Alpena News Sandcastle Contest Extraordinary sandcastles were made on the 4th of July at the annual Alpena News Sandcastle Contest.

Everybody from Team Rook Crark has returned home after a great Fourth of July weekend! The team took third place with our entry, DJ Turtle (more pictures from the weekend to come).

We'd like to again thank every single member who came out and worked their butt off for eight hours on the beach: James Carpenter (Captain, 6), Lindsay Ellis (Captain, 10), Robert Stonik (Captain, 9), Cam Ulrich (2), Jackie Cole (1), Jacob Marks (1), Jason Grewe (2), John Garrity (2), JT Towne (4), Koshiro Iwasaki (2), Kyle Archer (1), Lauren Sirois (1), Maria Gutowski (2), Meaghan Rea (1), Sam Gutherie (2), and Tyler Ulrich (2). Without you all, we wouldn't have succeeded in raising the bar and creating the best sculpture in Team Rook Crark history.

We've been waiting months and the big day is finally here!

For a long time, Neiman's and their bagel shop have been our favorite place to shop for food in Alpena. Today, we found out we're on the wall at the Corner café in Neimans and even met THE Hal Neiman!
