This project was a true team effort between our companies:
🔹 Semmel Excavating completed the excavation and earthwork, including:
• Site excavation and mass earthwork
• Underground infrastructure — water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer
• Grading for parking areas and driveways
• Highway improvements to support safe site access
🔹 Engelman Construction completed the concrete scope, including:
• Sidewalks
• Curbs
• Associated concrete flatwork throughout the site
Together, our crews helped deliver a high-quality site ready to serve the community. Huge thanks to everyone involved for another successful project from the ground up.

🚜 Dirt’s Been Moving in Limerick! 🚜
Two weeks ago, Semmel Excavating officially broke ground on the brand-new Sheetz in Limerick Township, PA!
Since then, our crew has been hard at work shaping the site — transforming those first scoops of earth into the foundation of what will soon be a go-to stop for fuel, food, and convenience.
We’re proud to be part of bringing this exciting project to life — and if you’ve driven by lately, you’ve already seen how quickly things are changing. Stay tuned, because there’s a lot more progress to come!
No Water? No Problem. We'll take it it from here! This week, our pipe crew is working on rerouting the building's water service lines at the new Giant Grocery Store at the South Mall. These upgrades are essential to ensure the building has a reliable everyday water supply — and just as important, a dependable fire protection system.
Precision, safety, and reliability are the name of the game when you're working with live utilities — and our team is making it happen!

Work is moving full steam ahead at the Trexler Point housing development. This is a multi-phase townhouse project that we are proud to be handling for D.R. Horton Homes
The first phase of homes is progressing quickly. This week our crew was on site installing water laterals and completing utility trenching to support the next phase of development.
We are happy to be apart of the growth of the Lehigh Valley!
We’re deep into the action over at the South Mall on Lehigh Street in Allentown, where a brand-new Giant Grocery Store is taking place of a former retail space. With demolition now complete, the Semmel Excavating crew has been hard at work laying the groundwork—literally.
We’ve already wrapped up the necessary excavation to prepare for the foundation and completed all the sub grading in anticipation for the start of construction of the building. With the groundwork in place, the site is set for building to begin.
Our team has been moving fast and efficiently to prepare the site for success. There’s still plenty of work ahead, and we’re proud to keep our crew busy doing what they do best—digging in and getting it done!

Semmel is close to wrapping up Phase 1 of our work at the Upper Macungie Rec Center! This is such a big and unique project, and we're excited to be part of it—it’s going to be a great addition to the community!
During this phase our team tackled a wide scope of work. We completed large-scale excavation and grading to prep for the crews to pour the buildings foundation and piers. We provided fine grading to prepare for the concrete pad where the turf will be placed. We also did major upgrades and improvements to the site’s drainage system.
This phase laid the groundwork for everything that comes next. We’re excited to return later in the project to complete the sidewalks, curbing, and paving.
We can't wait to see this building go up!
April showers bring... muddy cars. Good thing the Emmaus Car Wash is now open!
Semmel Excavating is thrilled to have played a major role in the successful completion of the new Emmaus Car Wash! Teaming up with McCormick Management Services Inc. as the construction manager, we were hands-on from the first demo to the final details.
Our team tackled:
• Complete demolition of the old car wash
• Removal of all fixtures and underground utilities
• Site grading and prep for new construction
• Installation of brand-new stormwater and sanitary systems
• Construction of retaining walls along the property’s perimeter
• Forming and pouring all new concrete curbing
• Full asphalt paving, line striping, and traffic control
• Final landscaping and fencing to finish the site

Check out that before and after shot!
Our team has been moving quickly at the Palmer Recycling Center! We transformed this empty lot into a convenient area for local residents to drive in and sort all of their recyclable items into their designated bins. In just a short time frame, we cleared & graded the site, installed proper drainage, and poured a 9,600sf concrete pad for the recycling bins to sit on. Up next is paving!
