🍺📚 Friday's Get Lit Grown-Up Book Fair was an evening of books, laughter, and the BEST kind of chaos.
It was such fun chatting with readers, swapping recommendations, and watching people discover new stories (my favorite part of any event). And yes…Fred the penguin made plenty of new friends too. 🐧💛
Huge thank-you to the wonderful Rachel Lewis, the volunteers, the team at the HUB in Allen for hosting such a fantastic night, and to all the volunteers who kept everything running so smoothly—you made it feel effortless.
Big shout out my amazing tablemate, Lina Harper—we laughed way too much. If you love dark romance, her Pas de Deux deserves a spot on your TBR 🖤
If you grabbed a copy of Off Edge, Becker Circle, or Dark Energy, I’d be so grateful if you shared a quick review on Amazon, Goodreads, or BookBub. Those reviews truly help authors more than you know.
Missed this one? Come see me (and Fred 🐧) at McKinney Literary Fest on May 30 at McKinney City Hall—it’s FREE, full of amazing authors, panels, and plenty of books to fall in love with.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by—you made my night. 💫

🚗🎶 Hitting the road soon? Take Gillian along for the ride.
When Gillian leaves Boston behind for a fresh start in Dallas, music becomes part of the journey—fueling her courage, independence, and the life she’s determined to rebuild.
I gathered some of the songs that capture that spirit into Gillian’s Road Trip Playlist on Spotify. These tracks echo the vibe behind Becker Circle and Dark Energy: Return to Becker Circle—stories about second chances, courage, and finding your way when life throws a curveball.
Whether you're headed to the beach, the mountains, or just cruising around town, press play and let the music keep you company.

⛸ This is the Olympics. As the women take the ice in Milan today, imagine standing under those lights… heart pounding… knowing the entire world is watching.
Docia Sikorsky has been in lots of medal ceremonies. But this one is different. It’s the Olympics. And she wins gold. Here’s a moment from Chapter 3 of Off Edge:
🥇 Even though I’ve been in lots of medal ceremonies, this is the Olympics. I feel small. Walking across the carpeted path rather than skating takes forever.
I stop at the center platform with thousands of eyes focused on us. One of the officials holds his arm out to help me up the tallest step. Remembering to breathe while taking in the full experience is a struggle. The rumble in the arena is so loud it almost seems silent. Lena beams with her hands crossed over her heart at rink side.
The booming voice announces the bronze and silver winners. After each name, the throb of the crowd grows louder. Flags wave. Camera flashes blink around the stands. When he announces my name, a cold breeze surrounds me, and I reach over to rub the goosebumps off my arms. I lean forward to allow the official to put the heavy gold medal around my neck.
The cold, round disk is so big it fills my hand. When I hear the whoosh of the massive American flag unroll from the ceiling and the Star-Spangled Banner, the tears start. I’ve come so far over the last year. It’s been hard, but I’ve achieved so much.
🥇
She reached the top. But what happens when your biggest dream becomes the center of a scandal?
If you’re watching women’s Olympic figure skating today and feeling the pressure, the electricity, the stakes — this story is for you.

⛸ Women’s figure skating is on Olympic ice this week… and I still get chills thinking about Docia’s first step onto the world’s biggest stage in Off Edge.
Before the scandal.
Before the medal was taken.
Before everything unraveled.
Excerpt, chapter 2...
Then the monitor waves me over. I’m next.
My body tingles as I make my way to the wooden boards that create the wall surrounding the rink. The official calls my name and I remove my guards and hand them to Lena. I step onto the ice, close my eyes, and fill my lungs with air to help me focus. Lena holds my hands over her heart like she always does before I skate.
“I’ll do those jumping passes my way. Not Dad’s. Just the way I practiced.”
“Good idea. Skate like I know you can, my little Docia.”
I reach for my pendant after her final instructions, then skate over the patterns the last five skaters made in the ice. The row of judges peers at me over their computers. Gaping camera lenses line both ends of the rink to capture every mistake for the world to see. I hope they can’t see me shake.
“Representing the United States of America, Docia Sikorsky.” The announcer’s voice booms over the speakers in Russian and then in English.
Each stroke around the rink picks up the energy I felt in yesterday’s short program. It flows up through my feet to my lungs and covers my skin with a blanket of confidence as I skate to the center of the ice. Cameras flash around the stands like twinkling stars scattered across the night sky. The roar from the crowd engulfs me.
I stop in my opening pose at the top of the five Olympic rings.
My Olympic rings.
If you’re watching the Olympic performances and feeling the nerves, the pressure, the electricity of the ice — this story is for you. Chapter 3 continues with Docia's experience performing her program.

🥇 There’s something unforgettable about watching athletes perform at the edge of what’s possible. Team USA inspires me with their dedication, diversity, and the stories behind every routine, play, and run. Wishing every Olympic athlete pride in their performance and joy in the moment.

🥇 “OFF EDGE deserves the gold. I love to see a YA heroine like Docia—someone readers can and should look up to. A fantastic story of true friends, family dynamics, and a girl coming of age in the totally modern world.”
