"This is the family we found: they have six children—all aged six or younger—plus an eight-month-old baby.

As part of the donation from Casa Esperanza, we brought shoes, clothing, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, stuffed animals, and sweets. The young people from Casa Esperanza also lovingly pitched in to help the children change into new clothes so we could take a photo to remember the moment.

It was a truly special and meaningful experience that allowed us to spend time with the family and offer them a small gesture of support and affection."

In the pictures, you can see our precious youth rising from bed the morning after her surgery, still groggy, but better than the day before. The next picture is her arriving back home as Casa Esperanza, her face still a little swollen from being sick, but she's not flush anymore and her smile is returning. She is currently resting well at home.

🚨 UPDATE: Our Youth's Surgery was a Success! 🙏✨

We have wonderful news to share: Our youth is out of surgery and recovering well! 🩺❤️

Her surgeon let us know that her appendix was severely inflamed and likely close to bursting. Getting her to the hospital when we did truly made all the difference, and we are so relieved that the operation went smoothly.

Because we had to act quickly to save her life, we are still working to reach our full fundraising goal. We still need to recover $1,400 to fully cover her emergency surgical care, transportation, and post-op clinic stay.

Friends of Send Hope, we need to lean on our community today for something unexpected.

One of our beloved youth has recently taken ill and was diagnosed with appendicitis. She is currently at the clinic receiving wonderful care and comfort, but she urgently needs to be transported to the larger town nearby for an emergency operation with a capable surgeon.

The great news is that doctors expect her to make a full recovery once she gets this surgery! 🩺✨

However, urgent medical emergencies like this are hard to predict, and they fall outside our standard operating budget. To recover the costs of her emergency procedure and keep Send Hope running, we need to raise $1,400 urgently.

🏡 Exciting news from Casa Esperanza!

If you’ve stayed in our Guest House over the years, you might remember it was showing a little wear and tear—complete with some unwelcome roommates like termites and bats!

We are thrilled to share that the Guest House is almost completely rebuilt! To ensure this beautiful structure stays strong, safe, and welcoming for decades to come, we are currently in the middle of the final step: painting the exterior.

Because of our climate and past pest issues, we are using specialized termite- and moisture-resistant paint to protect the new building from the elements.

💔 SIX SIBLINGS LOST. WE CANNOT LET BABY ESEQUIEL BE THE SEVENTH.
Look closely at Baby Esequiel’s eyes in this photo. They are tired. His skin is dusky. At just 1 year old, Baby Esequiel is fighting for his life against Grade 2 malnutrition.

The heartbreaking reality? His family has already buried six of his siblings, who all tragically lost their lives to malnutrition.

This is the devastating crisis of food insecurity—but it is a crisis we can prevent.

Through our Katrina Engle Nourishment Program, in collaboration with Kids Against Hunger, Send Hope is providing nutrient-dense meals that pull thousands of children just like Baby Esequiel back from the brink of starvation.
