Reminder for employers: if you offer prescription drug coverage, you're required to send Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage notices to Medicare-eligible employees and their dependents by October 15, ahead of Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period.
These notices let recipients know whether your plan's drug coverage is as good as or better than Medicare's, information they need to avoid a late enrollment penalty. We're here to help. Let's make sure your notices are ready to go out on time.

Retirement Tax Traps to Avoid in 2026
As someone who has spent over a decade guiding clients through the ins and outs of Medicare and health insurance, I’ve seen firsthand how retirement can introduce unexpected financial twists—especially when it comes to taxes. Looking ahead to 2026, it’s important to be aware of tax traps that often catch retirees off guard: higher tax brackets triggered by required minimum distributions, increased taxable Social Security benefits, Medicare surcharges, phased-out deductions, capital gains taxes, and even depreciation recapture. All of these can impact your overall financial picture and your peace of mind. Thoughtful, multi-year income planning isn’t just helpful—it’s essential for protecting both your healthcare and your finances during retirement. My commitment has always been to ensure my clients feel supported and informed as they navigate these important transitions.

US Medicare Bills Need Monthly Planning
Medicare bills can be a monthly puzzle, and planning ahead is key. For example, in 2026, a standard-premium couple will need to budget $405.80 each month just for Part B coverage—even before those Social Security payments start to arrive. Over the years, I’ve seen how important it is to set up a reliable, consistent stream of income to cover these recurring costs, especially as Medicare and Social Security rarely move in perfect sync.
One practical strategy I’ve come across pairs three types of ETFs: a dividend growth fund for annual income, a monthly income fund, and an ultra-short Treasury bill fund for stability. With about 250 shares of the high-yield equity fund, annual dividends could potentially cover an entire year’s premiums. The monthly income fund—think 750 shares—could help align income with monthly bills, while the Treasury-bill fund acts as a cushion, letting you set aside 6–12 months of premiums so you’re not forced to sell shares during a market downturn.
While the 2027 Social Security adjustment is tracking close to 3%, predictable income is still needed to bridge the gap until those higher checks arrive. As someone who’s spent years helping clients navigate Medicare, I know that having a plan—and a little peace of mind—makes all the difference. If you’re thinking about how to structure your own Medicare payments, a personalized approach can help you stay comfortably ahead.
