👋Hi Algonquin👋
🌐We here at the Algonquin Police Department want to about . June is Internet Safety Month, and we want our community to be safe on the internet.🌐
✅Parents – Please educate your children on the importance of ignoring strangers on the internet. Strangers will try to communicate with your kids on the internet, sometimes posing as love interests or fellow classmates. It is important to ignore these messages, as these strangers will try to solicit personal information or explicit photos. Please encourage your children to report this behavior to you or a trusted adult.
✅Should your child fall victim to sending an explicit/embarrassing photo of themselves to a stranger, please have them cease all communication with the stranger and contact us. We can investigate this and provide resources to assist your child.

Last Saturday, the McHenry County leg of the Region B Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics came together and completed almost a four mile run to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Illinois!
We had Officers, retirees, friends, and family members come out to support the cause! Most importantly, one of our local athletes, Nathan Lewandowski led us throughout the run, holding the torch during the majority of the run.
Special thanks to the Johnsburg Police Department for hosting the run and all of the police agencies that assisted us with keeping us safe as we ran through the streets of Johnsburg. We would also like to give a shoutout to the Johnsburg Walmart for their generosity in keeping us hydrated (as it was a really muggy/hot morning).
Off to the state competitions the Flame of Hope goes as well as Officers from around the state this upcoming weekend in Bloomington to support our athletes!

Yesterday, after 28 years of dedicated service to the residents of Algonquin, Officer Paul Krystal retired after an amazing career that included many different specialty positions. He served as a mentor and constant wealth of knowledge to both his veteran peers as well as newer, younger officers. As one of his colleagues stated "You knew you were going to have a good shift if PK (Officer Krystal) was working with you".
We wish him all the best in his well deserved retirement, and thank our brothers and sisters at Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Village of Algonquin, Illinois for joining us at Officer Krystal's official send-off.

Thank you to the The Salvation Army USA for dropping off donuts on National Donut Day! While here they shared a story about the Salvation Army’s Donut Lassies serving the troops in WWI and how it became a symbol of comfort and care. Pretty cool back story to National Donut Day that we thought you all would enjoy. Have a great and safe weekend Algonquin Community and friends!
