This led to UK’s data watchdog fining Capita £14m, originally £45m, for damages. A major Japanese beer brand is recovering from a cyberattack that made off with around 27 gigabytes of data and paralyzed productions that led to shortages in stores last week. Japanese’s companies and individuals have reportedly experienced at least 116 ransomware attacks in the first half of 2025, and this is the fourth attack since June by Qilin, the ransomware group that claimed responsibility for this most recent attack. Japan is now scrambling for policy changes to increase cyber protection.
