Affordable Rental Housing Opportunities
The City of Alexandria’s Office of Housing provides housing counseling services for persons seeking affordable rental and accessible housing in the City of Alexandria and regularly publishes a list of current vacancies in affordable rental communities. The list includes unit type, monthly rent amount, income requirements, and occupancy limits. The November 2020 list of properties is now posted under the Office of Housing’s Renter Resources webpage. Applicants interested in a specific unit should contact the property directly.

New Study Says Bicycles Are the Future of Urban Transportation Deloitte says that technological innovations—like e-bikes—will spur bicycling’s growth around the world.
The City of Alexandria Office of Housing announces the availability of a Resale Restricted Homeownership unit in the EOS-21. This is a condominium unit, 2-bedroom, 2 full baths, located at 60 S. Van Dorn St., Unit 512., Alexandria, VA. This is a beautiful top floor unit with washer & dryer combo, gas range, dishwasher, microwave, gas fireplace, walk in closets and a deck/balcony. The unit was built 2006, priced at $203,883 after the purchase discount of 5.17%.

Training Series for Condominium and Community Associations
In recognition of Fair Housing Month in April, the City of Alexandria and Alexandria-based law firm Mercer Trigiani are sponsoring a workshop, “Fair Housing Compliance for Condominium and Community Associations”. This workshop is offered at no cost to participants, but pre-registration is requested. The event will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 10am – 12pm at Patrick Henry Recreation Center.
This event is part of a series of workshops related to condominium and community associations. The goals for these workshops include educating first-time homebuyers about the structure and governance of condominium communities; strengthening the knowledge of community board members in understanding, managing and amending governing documents; and helping communities understand fair housing law related to community association management.

Condominiums have traditionally been the most affordable homeownership housing option for first-time homebuyers in the City of Alexandria. Recognizing the importance of the City’s condominium communities in preserving the City’s economic and social diversity, the City hopes to broaden awareness of community association management in hopes of strengthening and preserving these resources for the future.

King Street-Old Town Metro Access Improvement Project The King Street-Old Town Metro Access Improvements project will make the area immediately surrounding the Metrorail station safer and more aesthetically pleasing for station users, while also maintaining efficient levels of service for buses and other transit vehicles accessing the site.
From the City of Alexandria: The Thornton, the new rental community located at 1199 South Washington Street will begin taking applications for the remaining 12 affordable rental set aside units beginning Friday, April 28, 2018.

The Ad Hoc Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Advisory Committee will hold its tenth and final meeting on Thursday, February 25, 2016, from 7- 9 p.m. at City Hall, (Sister Cities Room 1101) at 301 King Street.
The Committee will receive the final draft plan for endorsement. The role of the Advisory Committee is to provide guidance to City staff on the update to the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan and the development of Complete Streets Design Guidelines.
