Artist Statement:
More than an artist I consider myself a medium or a tool to give existence to visions that want to be seen by us. They could be from my own or our common subconscious or even from another dimension. Therefore, Abstract Expression is a selfless and thoughtless process for me. My most successful works are the ones that I have created most spontaneously. Follow me on Twitter @AbolB

✨ Introducing “Abduction” ✨
I am thrilled to share the newest addition to my Spirits series. This piece is inspired by the classic Greek myth of the “Abduction of Europa,” reinterpreted through a cross-cultural, timeless lens.
Hybrid media painting (first rendition 12x16” on wood) bridges different worlds and eras. The background skyline weaves a tapestry of Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and East Asian architecture. Against this historic, global backdrop, the central female figure stands out in a sharp, modern outfit—juxtaposing the ancient world with the contemporary.
Moving through the vibrant haze is the powerful silhouette of the Ta**us, serving as both a nod to the celestial myth and a force guiding her journey forward.
Head over to my studio (no 5) Torpedo Factory Art Center to see more from this collection.
I’d love to hear your thoughts—how do you interpret this blend of ancient myth, global architecture, and modern style? 🏛️🐂✨

Coming to VA MOCA! ✨
I am thrilled to share that my piece, Prey (2025), has been selected for the Made in VA 2026 Biennial at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art ()! 🏛️
Being part of this biennial is an incredible honor, especially given the amazing caliber of work submitted this year.
🗓️ Save the Date:
Exhibition Runs: September 11, 2026 – March 7, 2027
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
About the Piece:
From my Baroque series, Prey (hybrid-media and collage on 36x24" wood) reflects on the victims of immigration and individuals confined to predefined gender identities—trapped in the web of established institutions. The overly decorated trap is guarded by a green, half-spider, half-insect creature, symbolizing both the deceptive allure of oppressive systems and the pervasive nature of societal judgment.
If you’re in the Virginia Beach area this fall or winter, I’d love for you to visit and see the exhibition! Stay tuned for more details as the opening approaches. 🖤

Four floors of art history, one temporary stop. 📍 Sotheby’s NYC pre-auction viewings are a reminder of how much incredible art lives in private collections. Seeing these Cubist, Modern, and Contemporary works in person before they go under the hammer is something else.

The Rift 🌌
In this piece from my Spirits series, hybrid media on 36x36 inch water media wood panel, I explore the delicate boundary between the tangible and the ethereal.
The central figure—a floating female bust—pairs a Greco-Roman head with a Persian Qajar-era miniskirt. This fashion, originally influenced by Western ballet tutus, embodies “the rift” between the diverse cultural histories that shape my work.
Using a “musical” approach to line, I layer pigment print, watercolor, pastel, and ink to create these nature guardians.

Dawn from my Spirits series is selected by Jowita Wyszomiska, the independent juror of the month, for the May 2026 Open Exhibit .

Join us for the opening reception on Friday, May 8, 6:30–8:00 pm and come earlier to check out my studio (5), a few steps from The Art League Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center.

Exhibit Duration: May 6–June 7, 2026

About the selected piece:

Dawn, a layered watercolor and pigment print on a 24×24-inch wood watermedia panel, is the fifth painting from my Spirits series selected for a monthly exhibit at The Art League. Two previous pieces from this series received Best in Show and Honorable Mention awards and were sold by The Art League.

The “Spirits” series fuses figurative and landscape painting through a musical approach—a unique technique employing dense, filament-like lines (melody) and parallel striations (harmony), reminiscent of intaglio or etching. I hope to emphasize environmental awareness with this approach. The veiled figures, rendered in neutral tones, contrast with the warm landscape, symbolizing the ethereal emergence of nature’s guardians and underscoring humanity’s inherent connection to and responsibility for the Earth.
