Congratulations to NBC Washington's Julie Carey on her retirement! While most know her as NBC4's longtime Northern Virginia Bureau Chief — covering governors, the General Assembly, and every statewide election since 1993 with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to keeping her viewers informed — our community also knows her as a strong supporter of Alexandria's nonprofit organizations. We're especially grateful that she has shared her expertise and deep knowledge of local issues by serving as moderator for the Del Ray Business Association's mayoral debates. We'll miss seeing her on the air, but we're excited to see more of her around the neighborhood!

THANK YOU to Delegate Kirk McPike for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with members of the Del Ray Business Association for a roundtable on issues facing small businesses.

During the event, Delegate McPike surprised owners Larry & Christine Ponzi with a framed copy of the General Assembly resolution honoring St. Elmo's on the Del Ray institution's 30th anniversary. The resolution called St. Elmo's "an iconic community meeting place" and a "cozy, welcoming community hub" that "has fostered a strong sense of community while serving coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and other fare to local residents and visitors for 30 years." #

180 Therapy and Wellness' .pt: "One of the most persistent myths about pain recovery is 'No Pain, No Gain.' While effort matters, pain is rarely a sign that you’re making progress. In fact, pushing through pain can often make symptoms worse. The result? Many people swing to the opposite extreme and begin avoiding movement altogether. The surprising part is that research shows both extremes of pushing through pain and avoiding activity can actually increase pain and disability. Recovery is rarely about doing more or doing less. It’s about finding the right amount… for you."

In this week's Well Ray Blog, Jen Uschold, the PainLESS PT & Coach, explains how a nudge -- paired with the power of the pacing -- can lead to meaningful change. Read more at the link in bio or at visitdelray.com/wellness-blog
